Hi guys,
I hope this is the place to find the answer I've been looking for, hopefully from the development team of Far Cry 4.
As a geologist and computer game fan I'm keen to know/learn the process as to how a landscape such as Far Cry 4 or other open world games (or any modern games for that matter) is designed. With the advances in modern computer games it should become easier to put in more geologically accurate shapes and textures, does anyone know if there is geological input into landscape design? The Far Cry 4 landscape is fantastic, but the mountains in the "background" don't look very detailed and up close "rocks" don't look particularly detailed either, at this point I'd like to add that I'm not criticising the game just keen to learn the geoscience input.
I've recently read an article which described how the developers had to flatten the Himalayan landscape to make it playable as in real life the angles are too steep to translate to a game.
So after that waffle if anyone has any input, or the name of someone to talk to I'd be very grateful![]()
