Hey welshdog1956 and welcome to the forums.
We will continue to do compilations and remasters of previously released titles so that people who are still playing on old gen consoles and haven’t yet had a chance to experience them can do so. We’re also continuing to make Just Dance available across all platforms.
That said, the transition to new-gen is well underway, and most players who don’t already own a new-gen console will be considering buying one this year. Also, our creative teams are now developing games with the additional power and technological advancements of new-gen consoles and PCs in mind. For those reasons, we are focused almost exclusively on developing new-gen titles.
Thanks.
Kinda just answered your own question, people are still buying them, but mostly because of the extensive back log of games already released. Developers are keeping with the times and moving forward with their technology, and those advancements are beyond the capabilities of the older hardware...Originally Posted by welshdog1956 Go to original post

Personally (not to be "that guy" who's already talking about the next far cry, but for the sake of this specific topic..) I hope that there is a FarCry5 a year or 2 after primal thats been in the works since FC4 (or at least is in pre-production now, basically I just want it to have a nice long development period and be a highly polished game), that returns us to the modern day set up and familiar scenario (albeit wholly different) as FC3/4. I still think there is plenty of room to improve on the modern day versions and I really liked FC for being a modern day, open-world FPS not about being a soldier in a war or terrorists and such. Maybe they could leap-frog FC games, numbered titles being the modern day ones, subtitled games being the unique setting/ time-period games. I'd be okay with that...
Ubisoft stopped using numbers for some of his series already. Since Far Cry has no real link between episodes (but quotes and some minor characters), I wouldn't be surprised not to see new FC games called with names like Primal. Primal is FC5 just like Unity was AC 5 I guess. Next one will be renamed another way.
