Fairly recent renamings on the IOS leaderboards in the past few of weeks; I see more all the time:

FR-Delvarre
FR-SofianeAmaru
FR-Laurent.g
Fr-lemath31
FR-Dodo44
FR-GreGory

I dont really know... but I am guessing these people are all from France?
(which country-wise does seem to have more than the usual share of good riders).

Is this some sign of patriotism, or what?
Who started this trend and why....and should I be putting "US" in front of my name?

Oh and... "Je suis Charlie"!

I've seen a few crews appearing actually. French guys do that quite a lot but I've also seen TMs before.

Thanks for the link! Funny thing is, my country and my riding skills really dont have anything to do with each other, so even though I am fairly patriotic myself... I am not sure I would team up that way. Its interesting info though.

Search for some kind of collective ID? I mean, I'm glad you guys are doing this but the result is (IMHO) - you (merely) cluttering the boards with elongated and cryptic nicks where teamplay rides (read: matches) are non existent.

As you said xitooner, it is patriotism, but just a touch, not a "We are french and we are the best", very not.

If you look last French rugby world cup match... We are not the very best

For people who don't understand french, here is the reason for the "FR-":
French community is very active, Turbo--X links to our french dedicated forum (Thank you).

We are very proud that a lot of top players are french (Kartank, Cassecou, Gunners, jimmymaignan... and others i can't list all here - ios or android players), but not only top. The idea came because we think RedLynx miss a very important feature : Add a country flag in leaderboards to have global countries vision. And so, the only way is to rename us. But some players can't do this with uplay... or don't want to.

I honestly don't see the point of putting your country code before your name. I get that you're proud that you're from a certain country with great Riders, like France. But there is a thread on this forum ( recentely revived) with the question where you're from.. Problem solved.

I know that not everyone is active on this forum or is even aware of it, but honestly, I don't give a damn from which country you are. Why not enjoy the game without a country code before your name?
