Are these permissions the reason my phone is behaving so strangely after the last update???
Whilst playing trials,
my phone will crash & it turns my phone off & then restart it, but when it restarts, it opens with my google play account attached & open in frontier & i have to then play upto level3 before an option to switch it back to my uplay account appears.
Very frustrating!
Im with cag on this, with just about zero tech knowledge,
So i just wondered if it was maybe connected with permissions, as i have had no such problems with the other updates.
Well ive had the crashing, we all have
but not the switching accounts?
My phone has been rock solid stable since ive had it (18mnths-ish)
and it has NEVER crashed to restart!!
So it makes me wonder???
Who knows?
Now tablet Task Manager always indicates me, that CPU is lagging because of TF.
I usually kill apps processes, not to consume battery, so TF nearly always crashes when I want to start it, and starting the game now takes loooong minutes, since it is not always successful![]()
I have noticed that even if I use task manager to close TF, when I check in the app info in my systme menu TF is still running.
Cause of the service that is always up and running (you can't kill it with task managers or such, service must be disabled or the game must be hibernated so to make this service go away)... also, the latest Android game version is a bit of a hog, as it will stress your phone and drain the battery more then prev. versions - just my 2" and my POV, but I saw battery drops which never happened before - phone is running the same stuff, OS ver and is set as before( even GPservices are tammed in the same manner).
As for unrooted, unmodified phones - you don't have to fear about permissions causing the crashes - it's about revoking them and/or stopping the game (and global) receivers and or services from running that will cause the game to fail starting or FCing (crashing).
I'm no tech genius, but I have my fair share in rooting, liberating my phone(s) from var. bloatware, customizing & setting, aside monitoring my phone activities.
TF is no exception from the "modern" market of apks and games... but hell, should I let you poke me hard? Nope, will not happen.
Still, some technical and directional/operational explanations from UBI/RL re concerns exposed here would be most appreciated...
This has been the case for me since day 1 a year and a half ago. I feel like it eats my battery just having it installed.Originally Posted by CagBall Go to original post
I'm not sure but I think the constant process that you're talking about has something to do with receiving notifications from the game, without that process you won't receive them but the game is heavier on the battery, more now than it ever has been !!Originally Posted by justinman114 Go to original post
I haven't Rooted my phone but I use an app called "App Ops Starter" which allows me to block and turn off/on most of the permissions to all of the apps on my phone which has extended my battery life a bit more since I've been using it, especially since stopping certain apps from Auto Running and searching my location every 2mins etc. etc. it's crazy what permissions some of these apps ask for.....Give this app a try if you're un-rooted and hopefully it will help you as well !!![]()
Hi, riders. As some of you have noticed Trials Frontier has asked for some additional permissions with the latest update. These new permissions are related to in game advertisements and providing advertisements that are more relevant for you.
There are a few things we would like to note about these permissions, first and foremost is that we will never collect any information without your clear and proactive opt-in (see EULA below).
- Only when you choose to opt-in to more relevant promoted content will we serve you promoted content based on non-personal and your anonymous information under your Google ID for Advertisers. This does not transfer any personally identifiable information about you, it is totally anonymous. Further if you do not wish to allow this at all you can also hide this ID on a phone level which will opt you out of any kind of targeted ads on any games. You can find these setting on your phone under -> Account / Google / ads
- If you do not opt-in to relevant promoted content, that is certainly okay, we want to empower the players to choose. We will replace the more relevant promoted content with other non-relevant advertisers.
- By allowing you to save short-cuts or bookmarks, if you choose to do so by a deliberate action, it allows you to stay in the game and save promoted content web pages that you find interesting for review later. We will never put a shortcut or bookmark on your device unless you asked us to do so.
- In regards to device & app history, this allows us to present more relevant promoted content to ensure that you are seeing more relevant advertisements to make a better in game experience.

Thanks for the info but where can I find this option to Opt-In/Out ??Originally Posted by mattshotcha Go to original post
Also, I have made several purchases to help support Trials Frontier and therefore don't get any sort of ads appear in-game anymore other than the ones in the store and obviously we have control over whether we watch them or not.....So my question is.....Why is this constant process still running on my phone (only since last update) when I don't receive the ads any more ??
Nonsense... all these pestering hooks and permissions serves nothing and you've been pushing adds whenever you wanted, so I repeat, this is a total nonsense.
Well it's not doing a very good job of giving me relevant ads. Of the 3 ads I watch for gems, most of the time 2 of them are for gambling slot machine apps, and the other is for various Supercell games which I already have installed. Since I don't really feel like developing a gambling addiction, I don't want to be seeing those kinds of ads, and you can be sure I will never, ever, ever click them. Not to mention the ethical concerns of exposing your customers to that kind of crap.Originally Posted by mattshotcha Go to original post
Are you really so desperate for money that you would risk ruining lives by bombarding us with gambling ads?
