All drivers are up to date, windows updates are all installed. It`s been a long time since I had a game hard crash on me like this, All other games are running fine.
I've looked up far cry 4 + ntdll.dll and found older posts about it on different forums but none had a solution.
The game was bought through uplay a couple of days ago. I've tried redownloading the game and verifying its integrity but still get the same crash.
Edit: Application version 0.1.0.1? That can't be the latest version can it? I'm assuming that uplay is failing to download the patch?

current version is 1.10.0 your game should auto update to the current version (check your settings in Uplay )
most likely your problem is a background application causing a crash
try to exit all background applications before you launch the title you may also want to try opening the Uplay client and Disable the In Game Overlay in Settings \ General
Also try setting Uplay (as well as Steam if you have the Steam version ) to launch and Run As Administrator
see this page about connection issues and Background Applications

your EXE version will not change in the Bin folder location mine says the same thing .. and i have the Steam version of the title patched to 1.10 .0Originally Posted by thirdnostril Go to original post
my config is older then yours i have 2 exact systems one with a Q 6600 one with a Q9650
Asus P5 B main board
Intel Core 2 quad Q6600
8 gig of DDR 2 - 800 ram
Asus Strix GTX 960
SB live 24 bit Pci sound card
Windows 10 Pro 64
2 Pny SSD drives (240 gig each)
the Q9650 system has about the same hardware but thats my back up system with an AMD R9 270X in it and has win 7 Sp1 Ultimate Edition on it (i keep meaning to swap out that CPU) that system only has 1 WD black edition Drive
do you have the Uplay only version or the Steam version >?
the Steam version auto Updates on its own and the Uplay one should too especially if ya tried a file verify running as Admin
so i dunno man hopefully support can help ya out
did you install Uplay on the same drive as your operating system ?
i have Uplay on my drive C: and my game is installed over on Drive E: with my Steam games
and i think uplay likes to be on the same drive as your OS
if ya need a patch history i posted one over here with all the info i could find http://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php...1#post10911851
one other issue you might wanna look into also is the Nvidia gameworks settings
more info can be found here https://forums.geforce.com/default/t...-in-far-cry-4/
Yeah I've stumbled upon on that before making this thread, but I can't get into the game at all due to the crash. I thought maybe there's a config file I can edit for those nvidia settings but if there are any cfg's they must be auto-gerated after a first run, since I cannot run the game at all, those config files aren't being generated. I checked both documents/my games/fc4 and the game's directory.Originally Posted by WID992007 Go to original post
yea i dunno then if ya have no backround apps running and u play is on C it should work perfect on your system .. runs good even on my system i'm on right now ..and some of this hardware is 7 years old and i'm using Windows 10
so i don't get why its crashing on launch for ya
wish you luck getting it running with help from Ubi support ,..as i don't have anything more to suggest ya try , cant be a uplay prob if ya got Far Cry 3 and that runs ...your hardware should run the game great
again good luck with Support hope they can find the problem for you .. as this game is fun ..and worth the hassle
For your Intel CPU Run Task manager and in processes alter affinity for FC4.exe so it does not run cores 1 and 3. (uncheck those cores)Originally Posted by thirdnostril Go to original post
The game is designed for a 3 core AMD cpu on a console.
If your CPU usage gets to 100% on any core the process (game) will crash however good your GPU..
Altering affinities on other processes to take load off the heavy loaded core 1 and 3 would also assist but it is probably sufficient to ony alter the FC4 affinity which you will need to do every time you start and log in to the game (process indicated in task manager.)
You can run the game windowed with task manager windowed alongside showing core use during game to validate the overloaded cores is the cause.
Hope this helps resolve issue.
