From reading the official website statements, we can really hope that this Far Cry would deliver the most varied ecosystem ever in the series.
-Redwood forest
-Taiga
-Swamps
This sounds great. Yet, FC4 teemed with different places (snow-covered mountaintops, valleys, forests, caves... And if we forgot the himalayan brown bear and snow leopard, every single animal was found everywhere. Finding mugger crocodiles while it was snowing in North Kyrat did bother me a bit, and I was really looking for specific locations for specific animals.
From what we know, we already have a bunch of interesting animals, if we look carefully at the paintings from the original teaser (some may not be in the game but who knows).
.Sabertooth
.Cave bear
.Dire wolf
.Megaloceros
.Mammoth
.Cave hyena
.Auroch
.Wooly rhinoceros
.Giant owl
. etc
But from these, which ones would fit in a swamp? And more important: which one would be feared when night falls? The game has a huge emphasis on fire and it's said that some beasts do force Tarrak to turn into prey at night. Specific nocturnal animals? I would hope so. Anyone has any ideas concerning such statements?
I adimitedly was puzzled by the existence of a swamp in Far Cry primal until I realized that it meant crocodiles could be a thing. Praying they actually move and aren't just logs with teeth. They don't even have to get out of the water, just make them like the demon fish and I will be fine!
As someone else said, the cattle skull most likely belongs to a Muskox, not an Aurochs or Bison like I originally thought. Hoping the musk ox doesn't act like so much of a coward compared to the yak of FC4 and buffalo of FC3.
While there was a megaloceros in the concept art, the one in game uses the Sambar model from FC4. Seriously hoping that the Megaloceros makes it in, however.
Night time is probably where smaller, pack animals come out. Day time is probably for larger predators that hunt alone.
Of course, this could all be wrong, just my thoughts. Hoping we get some Giant Sloths and weirder ice age beasts.
Rival tribes won't show at night. Simply because humans have poor eyesight and at this time, coming out of the cave to breath some fresh air ended most of the time by being eaten by something larger than us. Night time is the moment humans should be guarding outposts with even more attention, and we can be sure that things like wolves, hyenas and owls could be there just to find a bone to chew on.
On the painting, there are two distinct types of deers, one being chased by a sabertooth, another killed by a hunter. Those are, in my mind, totally different animals, one of these being the one seen on the sabertooth art. Megaloceros was more a solitary animal than a big herd fan so we can hope to meet some of these.
Swamp could mean anything from crocodiles to carnivorous fish. I do hope crocs move if they are included (and hopefully, the whole set of animal QTE would be renewed) but we have yet to learn if Takkar knows how to swim. Far from obvious at this time period.
We can also hope for anachronistic creatures. Not dinosaurs (even if some evolved one could be awesome) but terror birds (revamped cassowaries), sloths like said earlier, carnivorous boars, etc... We'll see in the end I guess.
We also need to remind that we'll have to create our whole arsenal with things we find in the wild. Since I don't think we'll be able to hunt down mammoths and sabertooth from the beginning, we'll have to climb the foodchain by hunting first small preys and predators. Wolves and hyenas are part of it I guess but there is surely more.
The Stone age is going to offer us a variety of Prehistoric Animals which is one of the reasons why I am excited for this game but if they are going to be adding any of those damn crocodiles again at least ADD a Prehistoric one....A Suggestion perhaps?
Sarcosuchus
This monster is known to have snatch up dinosaurs and drag through them the water like the one you see on Animal Planet when an African Crocodile does the same thing to a Zebra,Wilder beast,Gazelle, etc ...This animal can be perfect for the Swamps environment for the game instead of the Regular crocodiles we have seen the past 2 titles.

I don't think for a second Ubisoft is going to add Dinosaurs as DLC content but rather probably as part of the Wildlife aspect in the Far Cry title after FCP? I mean think about for a second,Ubisoft realize that the Jurassic Park setting has beaten all other options in the survey poll so maybe they are planning the Dinosaurs for the "5th" title perhaps?Originally Posted by Viragoxv535 Go to original post
The saurian showed above is no sarcosuchus imperator. It is kaprosuchus saharaensis. "Boar Croc" due to his tusk-like fangs. Cretaceous period. Far too old. Yet, terrestial crocodiles existed after dinosaurs' extinction, like Pristichampsus. Fast runner, excellent swimmer... yet quite extinct at the time. Ambulocetus would fit nicely too, if you don't mind being a bit anachronistic. After all, with just 1% of the wildlife having existed being trapped in the rock as fossils, we may end surprised and let our imagination run loose.
Dinosaurs will be in a Far Cry. And if we're talking science, they've always been part of it, at least avian dinosaurs (most often called 'birds'). yet, Instincts showed some tiny dilo-like reptiles and you can be sure that next step concerning Wildlife (that is now a key part of the franchise) is mesozoic era. How and when... That is yet to be known.
Yeah. Just saw the cave bear near the honey badger thingy. Wonder what it actually is... Its round tail is quite strange. Any ideas? Same for the owl.
From trailers/artworks, we got three distincts types of deers: sambar-like (dev talk), other from tiger artwork and last megaloceros from painting/artworks. Hope those 3 end up in the final game together.
