So, I have a problem and I'm not very good at fixing things on my computer so help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
I've had Far Cry 4 since April of this year and it's been great! But recently, I've encountered an error when opening the game. When I open the game, I get past all of the splash animations and the main title screen. I press any key to start and I see the main menu for about a second before I hear an error sound and an error window opens in the background. When I Alt+Tab to the window, It reads:
FATAL ERROR
File system failure: Aborting execution.
"C:\Users\Evan\Documents\My Games\Far Cry 4\841c782a-8f77-4009-874b-cda5b8134d3b\OfflineServiceData.bin"
I didn't know if there was a way to insert a picture so I just typed it out :/
I hit OK and both it and the game window disappear. This error is really annoying because Far Cry 4 has risen to be one of my favorite games but now I can't play it. I recently updated to Windows 10 and I don't know if that has something to do with it. Thanks to anyone who can help.
Hi Evyshapiro,
One thing you'll want to try is to do this first --
1. Uninstall Uplay/FC4 then reinstall
2. Make sure your drivers are up to date and that your computer meets minimum requirements
3. Make sure all background programs are closed while attempting to play FC4
If this doesn't work then you'll want to start at ticket at ubi.support.com
Let us know if we can help further
Also give this a shot as it seemed to help other people on the Steam forums with problems with Windows 10
Right Click on your Uplay Icon on your Desktop
select Properties
Select Advanced
Check the box that says run as an Administrator
select ok then Start Uplay (or Steam) again and open the game
(do the same to your Steam icon if you have the game thru Steam and not just the Default Uplay only version )
verify your game files after doing that change (this also may help if you did Windows 10 as an Upgrade as some files may be a lil screwy after an OS upgrade)
if they come back OK .. try launching the game again as Run as Administrator
instruction on how to verify your game files i'll post here too in case you don't know how
To verify your files if you bought the game thru Steam ..\EXIT Steam ..right click your steam icon ..select run as Administrator
launch Steam
go to your Steam games library
right clik on far cry 4
select properties
select local files
select verify Integrity of game cache
it takes a few min to do but its faster the redownloading your entire game , if its only a few files that were corrupt or installed incorrectly .... this in many cases will fix your problems
If you have the U play only Version of the game you can also verify your game files with U play
if you have the game via u play only here are instructions how to verify your game files thru their client
Again its probably best to make sure you launch Uplay as RUN as Administrator when you do a file verify

Good luck and i Hope you find your Fix!
again i have not had an Issue with the game launching here i have the game Via Steam and set both Steam and u play to run as admin as soon as i installed both Clients
so that may be something you wanna try
Hey guys, Sorry I didn't respond- been busy lately.
I tried everything you guys said but nothing worked. I went to the file location that i mentioned previously and the OfflineServiceData.bin file was a VLC Media Player file. When I opened it, it gave me this message:
Unidentified codec:
VLC could not identify the audio or video codec
I don't really know what this means... I tried looking it up but couldn't find anything. Does anyone know what to do?
Thanks
