    Rayman PC FAQ

    Below are answers to some common questions regarding the PC versions of the Rayman games. Let me know if you've got any questions not answered here and I'll try and help!

    Rayman 1

    - Error: This app can't run on your PC
    This game was made for DOS and can't run on modern Windows without a DOS emulator such as DOSBox. If you buy the game through Uplay or GOG it will come bundled with DOSBox.

    -The game is missing most of its soundtrack
    Rayman Forever had most of its soundtrack cut to save disc space. Many versions also had the intro cut due to the same reason. If you're using Rayman Forever you can replace the soundtrack files with these ones:
    Rayman Forever Soundtrack

    Rayman Designer/Gold/World

    - Installation failed
    When this error pops up DON'T press OK, instead go to the directory you wanted to install the game at. If you see the game installed there the installation probably succeeded anyway. To keep the game installed you will need to close the installer through the task manager or else the installer will removed the game as it thinks it failed to install. Some files may be missing as it thinks the installation failed but this happened to me and the game works fine.

    - Errors importing/exporting maps
    Place the map-file you want to import in the RayKit directory and then try importing it from there. If you're exporting, try exporting to that location.

    - Virus warning for Rayman Forever
    GOG has confirmed there is no malware, though if you're still suspicious the game can still be played without those files as they're only used for creating levels. If you have the original release of the game you can replace the files with those from your original release as the antivirus doesn't think there's a virus in them.

    - Missing configuration file in Mapper
    This means that the ubi.ini file was never created during installation and has to be created manually. Go to your RayKit directory and you should see a folder called ubisoft (if not then create one). Now go in to that folder and create a file called ubi.ini. Open the file and replace everything in it by:
    [OSD]
    Directory=.\ubisoft\osd
    Valid=TRUE

    [INSTALLED PRODUCTS]
    RAYKIT

    [RAYKIT]
    SrcDataPath=\
    Directory=.\

    Rayman 2: The Great Escape

    - Disc installer doesn't work
    Sadly enough the CD installer does not work on 64-bit computers running below Windows 8. You can however select all files from the CD and copy them over to the the directory you want to install the game at. This will work and you will be able to play the game, though your computer may not recognize the game as installed and if you want to uninstall you will have to do it manually (remove all the files you put in the directory.)

    - CD missing error while playing
    This is a common problem with the disc release. The game is still playable, though the pirate head that popped up on the screen may make it quite hard to see what's going on.
    The GOG version of the game fixed this issue.

    - Each time I launch the game my screen flickers for a few seconds
    This is because your running the game using nGlide. In the GXSetup you can change it to DirectX instead and the screen will not flicker on launch.

    - Can I run the game in Widescreen?
    Changing the resolution to an aspect ratio other than 4:3 will stretch the game. There is a patch to allow for true widescreen, however, some objects won't spawn on screen where they should and the HUD and loading screens appear stretched causing some minor graphical inconveniences.
    Rayman 2 Widescreen Patch

    - I don't have DirectX as an option in the GXSetup since I upgraded to Windows 10
    The reason for this is usually because the setup doesn't sense you have DirectX. Though if you manually set it to DirectX it will work just fine. To do this open the ubi.ini file related to Rayman 2 (CD version: C:\Windows\Ubisoft GOG version: In game directory) and change these:
    GLI_DllFile=GliDX6
    GLI_Dll=DirectX6
    GLI_Device=Direct3D HAL

    - The game doesn't recognize my gamepad/controller
    On modern computers it sadly enough doesn't. There is an unofficial patch that fixes this.
    Rayman 2 Controller fix (Place .dll file in Rayman 2 directory)

    - The controls are very weird, is there way way to change them?
    You can change them using the Rayman Control Panel.

    - I have collected all of the Lums and cages but I don't have 100% yet
    If you remember the cutscene in The Bayou Razorbeard actually eats the 1000th Lum and the Lum count changes to 999 instead. But it is actually possible to obtain the 1000th Lum which is required for 100%. Here is a video showing how: 1000th lum

    - Umber won't let me jump of in The Sanctuary of Stone and Fire
    This is an issue most likely caused by the game running in the wrong speed. If you have the GOG version or if you're using nGlide go to the nGlide config and set refresh rate to 120hz.

    - The game is running twice as fast as it should!
    Same as above, go to nGlide settings and set refresh rate to 120hz.

    Rayman M/Arena

    - Disc installer doesn't work
    Sadly enough the CD installer does not work on 64-bit computers running below Windows 8. Though you can select all files from the CD and copy the over the the directory you wanted to install the game at. This will work and you will be able to play the game, though your computer may not recognize the game as installed and if you want to uninstall you will have to do it the same way (remove all the files you put in the directory.)

    - What's the difference between Rayman M and Rayman Arena?
    Rayman M is the European version and Rayman Arena the North American version. As Rayman Arena was released later it has some improvements such as added LAN multiplayer and some minor changes to the levels.

    - An extra save slot keeps appearing where it says: 150:150:255: and when I reach the final league it crashes each time I try to load my save slot
    This is a rare issue and there is currently no known way to fix it.

    - The game doesn't recognize my gamepad/controller
    On modern computers it sadly enough doesn't. There is an unofficial patch that fixes this.
    Rayman M/Arena Controller fix (Place .dll file in Rayman M/Arena directory)

    - Can I run the game in Widescreen?
    Changing the resolution to an aspect ratio other than 4:3 will work, but the game will have trouble calculating the location of text and the menu will be kind of messed up.There is a patch to allow for true widescreen. The cutscene fix will need to be applied as well or else they won't play correctly.
    Rayman M Widescreen
    Rayman Arena Widescreen
    Better Rayman 3

    Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc

    - The game won't launch on Windows 10
    Most likely this is due to DirectPlay not being enabled. On Windows 10 Microsoft decided to automatically disable it due to it not being used in modern games. To enable it, do the following:
    - Go to the Control Panel
    - Press on "Programs"
    - Press "Turn Windows features on or off"
    - Enable DirecyPlay under Legacy Components
    - Press OK to save
    - Restart your computer

    - I have textures missing while playing on my Intel graphics card
    This is a very common issue and can easily be fixed. Go to the ubi.ini file (C:\Users\-USERNAME-\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Windows\Ubisoft or C:\Windows\Ubisoft) and set TnL to 0.
    Alternatively you can download the Better Rayman 3 patch where the configuration program allows for changing TnL:
    Better Rayman 3

    - The game doesn't recognize my gamepad/controller
    On modern computers it sadly enough doesn't. There is an unofficial patch that fixes this.
    Rayman 3 Controller fix (Place .dll file in Rayman 3 directory)

    - Can I run the game in Widescreen?
    Changing the resolution to an aspect ratio other than 4:3 will work, but the game will have trouble calculating the location of text and the menu will be kind of messed up.There is a patch to allow for true widescreen which has been added in the Better Rayman 3 patch:
    Better Rayman 3

    - While playing with a controller, the camera controls are inverted
    This can be changed in the GXSetup if you go to the second page which only appears if you have your controller plugged in. For some reasons these changes are only made to the ubi.ini file in C:\Windows\Ubisoft so to make the game read the changes you will either have to replace the ubi.ini file located at C:\Windows\Ubisoft with the one in C:\Users\-USERNAME-\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Windows\Ubisoft or run the game as administrator

    - When I go to RaymanZone to enter my Lums race code it takes me to the Rayman Legends site
    The Raymanzone website has been shut down since the release of Rayman Origins. Rayman Pirate Community, an unofficial fansite, has reopened the leaderboards so you can enter your code there and compete against others.
    Hall of Fame

    - The game won't launch!
    The most likely reason is that the ubi.ini file wasn't created during installation. To do so yourself I would recommend creating a file on both of the locations and in the file write:
    [Rayman3]
    Gli_Mode=1 - 1024 x 768 x 32
    Adapter=0
    TnL=1
    TriLinear=1
    Identifier=D7B78E66-4226-11CF-E363-C836B4C2C735
    DynamicShadows=0
    StaticShadows=0
    Video_BPP=32
    Video_WantedQuality=0
    Video_AutoAdjustQuality=0
    Camera_VerticalAxis=2
    Camera_HorizontalAxis=5
    VignettesFile=Vignette.cnt
    TexturesQuality=32
    TexturesCompressed=0
    Language=English

    Remember to change the resolution to your screens resolution (though I'd recommend taking the biggest 4:3 aspect ratio your screen supports).

    Rayman Raving Rabbids

    - Can I play in windowed mode?
    Yes! Just go to the registry editor by searching for regedit. Then go to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Ubisoft\Rayman4\HKEY_CU RRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Ubisoft\Rayman4\{05D2C1BC-A857-4493-9BDA-C7707CACB937}\Basic video. From there you'll only need to change WindowedMode to 1 instead of the default 0. I'd not recommend changing the other values as they can be changed properly from the games main configuration tool instead.

    - I keep getting jade_enr.exe errors when trying to start the game!
    This is a rare, but known issue, without a solution. The GOG or Uplay versions do not fix this issue.

    Rayman Origins

    - I connected my controller and it's not working in-game
    In Rayman Origins the controls don't automatically set for the controller, so you'll manually have to go to the options and set the controls.

    - I'm stuck on the world map and can't do anything except to press esc
    Sadly enough a common bug which still hasn't been fixed Only thing I could recommend is to frequently backup your save file in order for not to happen again.

    - How do I change the language of the game?
    If you bought the game from Steam it's done from the Steam game library. Just right-click the game, go to it's properties and change the language.

    Rayman Legends

    - Where is the online multiplayer it said about on Steam?
    Rayman Legends only supports local co-op. The online features are the challenges and the invasions

    - How do I change the language of the game?
    If you bought the game from Steam it's done from the Steam game library. Just right-click the game, go to it's properties and change the language.

    A lot of these solutions can be solved using the Rayman Control Panel.

    If you have any other questions regarding the PC Rayman games just ask and I'll try to help!

    rayman 2

    Hi there,

    Very nice guide but i still have some questions about rayman 2, i have bought the cd version of the game and have windows 10 on my computer. I am able to instal the game from the disc, (i walked mysefl trough the installation proces) but then when i start up the application nothing happens. Your solution about the GX setup also didnt seem to work for me because i wasnt able to select direct X in the list, i was able to find my ubi.ini file under c:windows/ubisoft but wasnt able to make any changes into the document. So i figured the problem probably has something to do with directx not being recognised by rayman 2 but i dont know how to get it to do exactly that. Help would be much appreciated

    Since I upgraded to Windows 10 the config hasn't been able to recognize DirectX. To choose DirectX you'll have to edit the ubi.ini file and change this:
    GLI_DllFile=GliDX6
    GLI_Dll=DirectX6
    GLI_Device=Direct3D HAL

    If you're having trouble editing the file i'ts because it's protected (because i'ts in the Windows directory). To edit it you'll either have to run notepad as admin and then open the file or you could copy the file to another location (such as the desktop), edit it and then copy it back.
    If this doesn't help start the game I'm afraid I don't know what else to do. You can try normal things such as running as admin, in compatibility mode etc.

    Noob question

    I have Rayman Origins , installed through uPlay on win 10.

    How the hell do you exit the game? (I'm pretty sure this counts as a FAQ).
    I've pressed every button, but I have to resort to Task Manager every time.

    It's especially annoying because I'm struggling to setup (or just get it to recognise) the controller and exiting the long way around every time is a right pain in the arse.

    Ctrl + esc works for me when using the Steam version. If that won't work it might be easier using windowed mode when trying to setup your controller.
    Also regarding the controller you have to manually change the button mapping for it work.

    Thanks for ctrl esc, You'e potentially saved my sanity.

    How do you get it to remember the button mapping?
    I go into options, I map the buttons, I exit back to the game and is doesn't work. I go back into options and the mapping has reset back to defaults.

    Are you sure you've saved your settings by pressing "accept"?

    There is no accept button.
    Maybe that's what's wrong.
