What continent do we think Oro's is set in?

I was watching the trailer and two questions of interest popped into my mind, what part of the world Oro's is meant to be located in and what prehistoric ''culture'' does the player and his tribe belong to or who they're historically based on. I either think they're Proto -Europeans or possibly Proto North Asians. The guy stalking the Mammoth had blue eyes and somewhat Caucasian features as did the other members of his tribe with a tan which would match Proto-Europeans or North Asiatic peoples. So where do you guys think it's set and what Mesolithic cultures do you think we'll see? Anyway the game looks exciting.

    Pangea? LOL

Just kidding I know what you mean.

So they said this was when man first stuck a stick in the ground and the presence of megafauna means this is likely based off the Paleolithic period (Era? I don't know how they break prehistoric time up) so basically the land masses had all most likely separated and started moving towards their current locations, but obviously there were still land bridges and what not.

I think it's hard to judge off the humans shown only because they were very primitive people and this is Far Cry's fictional version of whomever they were based off of. It probably would be easier to determine by the animal life as Far Cry is always really good about only using animals that fit the region they are mimicking.

We know there will definitely be Mammoths, Smilodons (Sabre Tooth Tigers), Dire Wolves and some kind of bears. They also showed Deer which look almost exactly like the Sambar. Maybe those are placeholders though... All of these could be found in Eurasia along with other animals that would be a good fit for the standard arsenal - Woolly Rhinos (Rhinos), Musk Oxen, Hyenas (been cut from 2 different far crys so if doesn't make it here it never will - anyway replaces dholes / wild dogs).

A lot of these were also found in ancient North America though as well so maybe they are going to base it off there. I don't think Sambar fit though if they are intended to stay as those... if we want giant sloths it has to be North America. I saw what looked like a giant owl on the cave painting (for whatever that is worth)

Specifically WHERE in Eurasia? No idea. Could be anywhere really because of how far back it is. Kinda hoping though it's based off ancient Canada/Alaska/Northeastern US. Gives us majestic forests to snow covered mountains with all manner of beautiful rivers and what not. Whatever the location we already know they can deliver amazing vistas. Terrain and foliage is always a strong point with Far Cry games.

Pangaea (the last supercontinent) started to break down 175 million years ago. Stone age started about 3.4 million years ago. So, nope.

Ah OK so Mesolithic then. That makes more sense as that's when men first started using actual tools, bows and the like.

Mesolithic tribes were all over Europe (as well as other places) so could be. I suppose the actual "where" doesn't matter as this was so long ago and a fictional version anyway that Ubi can have creative license to make whatever they want.

They said mesolithic in the game developers blog 50seconds in. And there are giant redwoods in the game(perfect platform for viewing the land)... so North america. Its possible Oros could be a totally different (parallel) world though.

There has got to be a modern day twist. Maybe Oros is a secret island nowhere marked on a map which is inhabited by uncontacted peoples.

It would be great if there was, but if so they surely won't leak it until release.

I honestly don't think there will be though.

Plot twist - at the end of the intro level Takkar lays down to sleep and as his eyes close we see an Abstergo logo come up and a voice says "Thank you for taking place in our primal ancestral recall program. Please take a short break, stretch your legs and go grab something to drink while we prepare the program for the next session."
