The thing that worries me about FCP being single player only is that to me that slightly diminishes the value of the overall product. Considering the past games all had MP modes (even though they were never very good) and map editors and FC4 having coop, Primal having nothing but SP means you're getting less for the same price. Sure, I may have not played the MP much, but it was in the package I paid for, so unless FCP has a significantly bigger SP portion or some other SP-centric modes, the game to me seems to offer less but demand the same price of admission. I hope they at least give us multiple save files so unlike in FC4 we don't have to lose our progress if we want to start up the campaign again, and also I think it'd be cool for them to make a new game+ mode so we can start over once we've finished with all our upgrades and skills... if aren't giving us any other modes, the least they could do is go all out on the SP component...
Also fix the damn fall damage threshold already Ubisoft! sheesh, 2 games in a row with protagonists that have glass ankles that shatter after a 3 ft. drop....
I want COOP too. Can't really imagine PVP TeamDeathMatch in stone age, but COOP will be just awesome.
Or wait a minute. Lets pretend that there is COOP. Then TECHNICALLY there also can be some kinda COOP TDM, when 2 or more groups walking in that big openworld. Each group have a "base" with AI population and from time to time players getting "quests" from shaman or chief like "go kill sabretooth overthere" or "the sun wants the head of a great hunter" and groups start to hunting each other.
So... Here's Ubisoft's chance to confirm if the SP editor will/will not be there. If they can confirm that it doesn't exist right now, I will gain a LOT of respect for them.Originally Posted by DapperHayden007 Go to original post
So JasonParadise, care to confirm either way? Or we going to hear "Soon" alllllllllll the way to release?
Yeah, I'm definitely in the minority. I never played Far Cry for its competitive multiplayer modes, so I was primarily a single-player guy myself.Originally Posted by The4orTy67 Go to original post
Then Far Cry 3 came out and had a few co-op missions. My buddy and I both love the franchise and was like, "Cool." But the whole time we were playing those missions, we kept talking about great it would be if you could play the full release together.
I didn't know until late that FC4 had integrated the co-op directly into the single player game. I thought it was the best feature FC4 had, and it tripled the
game's life for me.
So I'm still stoked for this game, but now I'm wondering how much content we're going to get for a full $60.
This is the part I'm worried about. They can scrap the MP, I've no issues with that, but they need to replace that with something. Even just adding new game + would be a big value driver for me. I'm just worried the game will have a full price tag but diminished value without the things they're getting rid of... and I definitely hope there is Co-Op in this game... despite what that mod has been saying over & over about a SP focus...Originally Posted by JackLanternTV Go to original post
Yeah, exactly. Who knows, the game could come out, we could all play it and think, "Ok, co-op wouldn't make any sense here. Now I see." But to be worth $60, I'm hoping for a LOT more SP content... and NOT through DLC. But is it just me, or does this game have a shorter development cycle? FC4 isn't all that old.Originally Posted by HorTyS Go to original post
lol my hope or the return of a Multiplayer map editor keeps getting crushed with each release. The franchise may be focused on singleplayer, but I have spent probably 20 times as much time on the editor in Far Cry 2 and Far Cry 3 than I did in singleplayer. Looks like Primal will be another game I do not purchase. But that is no big deal. I guess I just need to play minecraft haha
I'm with ya, but sadly, we seem to be in the minority. I'll wait and see, but all I can think of are all the "?" marks over the SP map, just to reveal a name for a rock. "You discovered absolutely nothing". You get nothing for it, you can't explore it because there's nothing to explore. I mean, if you're going to act like Elder Scrolls, BE Elder Scrolls. Make me a game with content value like that, and I'll fully embrace a single-player-only game. And if they do that, I'll eat a shoe. Hold me to it; because I hope to be wrong on all my assertions.Originally Posted by HorTyS Go to original post
