The rich setting of the Stone Age only multiplies the amount of incredible stories and unique situations that Far Cry's open-world sandbox gameplay is known for.

There is a natural fit between this time period and the Far Cry franchise. The daily life of a Stone Age man could be boiled down to: gather resources, craft weapons, hunt, defend himself from the wild and other threats, and explore uncharted territories. All of these activities already form the core gameplay loop of a Far Cry game.

Furthermore, we always try to set Far Cry games in what we call 'frontiers', places where rules don't apply and only the strongest survive. The Stone Age is, in essence, the very first frontier.
I guess the question is; Are you guys in the business of making games that the fans want and in return boost sales OR are you the business of producing a game you "THINK" is cool but no one gives a crap about! This game is the latter! As I mentioned in my other post, I as well as everyone I know is extremely dissapointed in this game, we expected far more after FC4! I guess we'll just let sales speak to that! Maybe then you'll begin actually listening to what true FC fans of the series want in the next FC!!! I've been playing FC seince the original and they were all great up until FC4 when it began going down hill ... My friends and I will all pass on this one! Thanks for trying...

    I'm still unimpressed, Ubi.
I remember seeing you here when there was all the map editor speculation and when it was confirmed that we were getting it for Far Cry 4. Now they announce this and again it would be nice if they would add a map editor like when they should have previously.

But regardless it probably isn't that relevant cause there are no guns in the game. I hope they can convince us otherwise that they can make a quality game, or rather, a quality far cry game - without guns/explosives. A lot of people would argue it's pretty core for the game though.

I have to say, this Far Cry has my interest. Seeing the Wooly Mammoth's and Sabre Tooth's in that trailer was incredible. This and the PS4 exclusive Horizon Zero Dawn might be two of the most unique games coming out in 2016.

I'm very interested in the concept. A post-apocalyptic world or "zombie" game is the last thing Far Cry needs, given that's what every other game is about. Far Cry is known for its exotic locales that sets them apart from the Battlefields and CoDs. Buuuuuuuuut..... now that I learned that they stripped the online two-player co-op, I might skip this one, or pick it up when prices go down.

I hope it is a spin off but i seriously doubt it. The only thing that i ever really like about the far cry series which is hardly recognizable anymore was the map editor for multiplayer.
I tried to play the mp for fc4 and it was just as painful to play as the map editor. Im not interested in the story, i only played through 7% of fc4.

Its amazing how each game gets worse & worse. I'll pass on fc primal even if it has an editor because im sure all the assets are just nature and rocks and crap like that.

It's a single Player only game http://www.gamespot.com/articles/far...tag=MKT5490f8a so no map editor. Also why are so many people complaining about this so what if the game does not have guns Far Cry is very different to COD i do not get why people complain when developers like Ubisoft try to change things up and people complain and when a developer does not change things up people still complain you just can not win in this world.

    So dissapointed

Thanks for ruining my day Ubisoft, the first thing I see on my phone this morning is the email announcing this...dissapointment. Here I am sitting around waiting in anticipation for the next game in the franchise hoping you would revisit Africa, because let's face it Farcry 2 was far from the masterpieces that 3 and 4 was. Or that we would go to the amazon but nope we get this joke right here. Hunting with sharpened sticks? Are you kidding me? Where are the guns? The vehicles? The explosives? Don't expect this game to be as popular as 3 and 4 was. Perhaps next time you'll listen to your fans, or I hope there is something you're not telling us as of yet and there will be guns, but with the direction you've taken it seems that is highly unlikely. SO DISSAPOINTED AND ANGRY

Yeah I think people have a valid reason for being upset. You know since the first farcry game the game has always had weapons, we don't mind them mixing it up but dammit we want guns that is essentially the core of all farcry games. And this is going waaayyy too far, just when they seemed to be getting it right with 3 and 4 (yes they had their faults) they go and stuff it up badly. Sure there will be people who will find this game enjoyable but then they should have made this a standalone titl, I really have zero interest in playing a farcry game that has no guns, explosives or vehicles and I have to hunt stuff with a sharp stick.

It is really great to see that the teams at Ubisoft are very creative and open to new themes but how is this a Far Cry game? I know that since Far Cry 3 introduced hunting and survival they have since become key aspects of the series which explains why a primal theme was chosen. However, I appreciate this franchise because it is a great "shooter" which offers me a huge arsenal of guns and vehicles in a open world in a present time (plus minus 100 years). I thought this franchise was a shooter? I really couldn't care less about sticks and stones. From all the interesting themes the developers could have picked they chose the least appealing (in my opinion). A Vietnam war or Mad Max style Far Cry would have been better candidates.
Maybe I am alone on this topic or maybe not. Please tell me what you think.

    Thank you,
    A concerned veteran
Damn now that you mention it a post apocalyptic type of theme would have been amazing. Even revisiting Africa or going to another planet like Borderlands would have been great and given the people at Ubisoft just as much creative license. You are not alone judging by the comments on here and youtube I would say this game is not going to achieve the success of 3 and 4, perhaps Ubisoft will listen to their customers next time and make a game we want instead of a game they want.
