Played the beta - terrorist hunt, my conclusions..

Overall it is good fun but it has some problems though.

    BOMBERS -

These should at least be OPTIONAL, many people on here don't seem to like them.
For me they don't fit in with what terrorist hunt was and I have played rainbow six since it was first on the original xbox.

It was always about the game being deadly for both terrorists and the player with any gun being lethal if a head shot.

Giving enemy armour + ability to charge you with a bomb isn't an improvement at all.

Now some people may well like these AI so I am not suggesting removing them.

Instead make them OPTIONAL something that can be turned on or off OR have a separate TH mode without them.

    TIME LIMIT -

I can understand why this needs to be there for public matches with 5 players BUT when you play a private match with say only two or three people or even solo it is a bad idea in a game that should be about moving slowly and being careful NOT RUSHING.

Please have a OPTION to remove the time limit.

If you consider removing either/both of these things makes playing hard/realistic too easy then have an XP penalty if you play without these things, say 10% loss for each.

There is no time limit for normal, so why can't it be optional for hard + realistic, after all you add in friendly fire damage + more accurate enemies you don't need IMHO a time limit as well.

I thought these things would be an issue after what I have heard/read prior to playing the beta with one friend and they were, otherwise seems good fun.

Games IMHO seem afraid these days of having options.

BTW in vegas 1+2 you could turn the time limit off with no XP penalty at all and there were no "bombers" and those were still a lot of fun on realistic.

Also when you leave a specific match type why doesn't it take your squad with you if you are the host/squad leader in squad only matches.

Terrorist Hunt has less options, less equipment to choose from and less ways to approach each mission than the games on PC from 12 to 17 years ago. I'm being completely serious. I'm 31, Rainbow Six (the very first one, on PC in 1998) was my first FPS. I vividly remember the options, route planning, waypoint planning, armor types, weapon types, bullet types. You had more equipment to choose from...in a game over a decade old.

The bombers are a disgrace, sorry. No logically thinking fan of this type of game can possibly think they are a good idea. They're armored, and charge you with a bomb. This is seriously something out of Call of Duty Black Ops 2.

How about...no time limits in lone wolf. More customization. Less gimmicky enemy behavior (suicide, rigging breach points, flanking your breach position from OUTSIDE).

I never played the PC version my first rainbow was on the original xbox.

I have heard that the PC version had lots of options including route planning/lots of different guns and not against that BUT from the original xbox version of this game onwards it hasn't had that.

Personally I was happy with TH hunt in both the original xbox and especially vegas 1 on the xbox360, I liked the 3rd person cover system for me a shame they removed it.

I don't have an issue with them removing regenerating health though in this new version BUT honestly in vegas 1 TH despite having it you could quite easily be instantly killed.

100% agreed on "bombers" they don't belong in a game of this type and more fit in with COD which I like personally BUT that is a DIFFERENT type/style of game or at least SHOULD BE.

Perhaps some people like them so as I suggest either have an option to turn them on or off OR have a TH mode without them.

Time limits in PVT/squad games should be able to be turned off regardless of how many people in the squad, from solo right up to 5 players.

At moment only normal has no time limit and that is the easiest mode, arguably you need more time on harder modes as you should be extra careful and NOT RUSH.

All time limits do is encourage rushing which is totally NOT the way you should play a rainbow six game.

Agreed on rigging breach points, less problem with flanking from outside that to me although can be annoying is clever tactics from the AI the sort of thing a human player would do in VS.

I hate regenerating health, another thing that has no place in this game. I also hate 3rd person cover (this is as casual as it can get). The original R6 games all used a 1st person peak/lean.

I just do not..and will never understand why the game has less playability options than a 17 year old game. Can you even open doors in this game? You could in 17 year old Rainbow Six on PC. Raven Shield even let you partially open doors so you can peak into them without saying "HELLOOOOO IM HEREEEE". These are the small things that set the game apart from every stupid run'n'gun game.

EDIT: The outside flanking enemies is a gripe of mine for one pretty obvious reason...lol...terrorists are attempting to lock down the area. They are typically in a building/facility surrounded by police. Exiting to go find you is (or should be) suicide. It is in the best interests (and this is where a lil realism should come into play) for the bad guys to stay behind cover, and not exit to "flank" you from your entry point.

I'm just sad. I literally grew up playing Rainbow on PC. I never got into Counter Strike, CoD (for a while, at least), SOCOM, UInreal, etc, etc..because R6 was the only FPS I ever had any desire to play. This game...is just not that, at all.
