Hoping that set-up was just for beta though, and you'll get to select different areas to customize in the full game.

I'm pretty sure that's the case.
Although if you take a closer look of what customization consist of, it's: helmet, body armor and armor color. So maybe you won't be able to customize the armor parts individually.

A bit disappointing, if it ends up being that way. As long as there's a lot of options, though, I could probably live with it.
