Is it bad to create multiple versions of a track?
I do it often with either an edited driveline or new theme/environment. it's annoyed people but I'm not sure why.

I don't think it's the biggest deal to be honest. Only thing that somewhat bothers me is when people spam the same track frequently or spam mediocre tracks. You'll never please everybody and there's always someone who will get their nose out of joint for some reason or other. Build and release whatever you want as long as you aren't violating Track Centrals guidelines. Of course, it doesn't hurt to exercise a little common courtesy by spacing out your releases.

it seems lazy sometimes. i don't like seeing the same track slightly different. it also kinda takes away from the original. however i do it myself but usually i make a normal version and a ninja version.
this way you're simply making your track accessible for more players since alot of ppl can't finish the ninja version.

If it annoys people, that would be their problem...right?
You take some time on your tracks, so it's welcomed to have another version. The "FIX" upload for tracks on a regular basis gets a bit much. No track is ever perfect and after creating a few dozen builds...the driveline issues shouldn't be there to begin with. It's good to be aware of issues with what you make by watching replays. It's usually a good indication of where people ran into problems.
I just ran your recent build CSS. I thought it was quite good, but the 2nd jump where people kept smashing their head was the apparent reason as to the high dislikes.
If it were me, I'd wait a few weeks, change the part, then reupload....maybe change the time of day a little add some elements. The reality of TC is 95% is horrid. You put effort into your builds...they should be thanking you for creating
I remember in Evo, I uploaded quite a few builds twice...but 6-8 months later. I figured, why not? Does it really matter in the end?
As Faz mentioned, making a different driveline works I think. Why spend another 10 hours making an entire track when it's already there. Some like to create a new theme every time. If it's a theme I like, I'll just make another version...especially if the initial one doesn't get a lot of play. You've spend quite a few hours on a build, why not let more people enjoy it.
The last pick of mine, Rubble Run...was initially an extreme. The driveline was a bit too hard...it rated ok, but didn't get much play. I reworked the line and some decor....it did better.
It's not about downloads necessarily, but it's good to get mileage out of your creation...if you believe it's a decent build.

I think I had a mini breakdown as I haven't had a top rated track for over 4 months. I released few versions of that track hopeing it would miracously do better. It might not look it but I spent ages making it and it only got a lousy 50 likes, yet some stupid track that looks like it took 5 minutes to make has 250 likes and counting. I just don't understand.

I wouldn't worry about it too much CSS, chances are they are boosting and degrading other peoples tracks just to keep themselves in a higher place. I know it sounds daft but that's why the rating system needs altering still. It still doesn't fully work.
That's one of the reasons Funk was getting annoyed, but it happens regardless. Sorry man, it happens to all of the great builders.
