    Far Cry 5 Location

I have seen a few of these, some older ones, and of course they did the surveys, but felt like sharing my idea, and opening a newer forum for any of you to share your thoughts as well.

Far Cry followed an ex spec soldier on a quest to destroy some questionable genetic research he discovered. Far Cry 2 through you into the middle of a Civil War in an African state. Far Cry 3 you and co are stranded on an island controlled by pirates, and the natives who want to take it back. Far Cry 4 again thrown into the middle of a Civil War.

After reading the polls, people wanted more wilderness survival, and loved seeing the Himalayas. Alaska of course became an obvious choice for many people.

I love the idea, I love the terrain, the survival aspect of it, I want to punch some wolves alongside Liam Neeson lol. But the game shouldn't just focus on wilderness survival. You need conflict, which in turn needs at least 2 factions.

Corrupt Oil drilling company with mercs, vs Native Alaskan tribes fighting to save their land is a great choice for this conflict! However, the U.S., no matter how corrupt you think big oil is, has organizations and laws to protect their lands. However, there are still many native tribes that live in the Arctic Circle, some that span 20 villages or more!

Soooo instead we go over to Russia, or Greenland, or some small made up country with big oil and mercenaries. As a renown journalist aiming to tell these people's struggle to the world, you travel there, meet up with the natives, and you get sucked into the conflict when they raid the village you are staying in.

But this provides some freedom to create a unique landscape, while providing that arctic wilderness survival many seem to be craving. Also with your own tribe, comes the stories and legends of mythical beasts to satisfy those wanting dinosaurs and vampires.

This seems like the perfect setting for Far Cry 5 in terms of the survival aspect, but I would like to see some Middle East urban warfare, street to street combat, room for 3 or more factions as well? Let me know what you guys think!

With the Urban Warfare, I see a Middle Eastern, North African country, vast open desert and mountains, sandstorms, quicksand, etc. to explore, as well as bombed out towns and ruins to fight in.

The shelling of Utkarsh mission, where you fight inside the town, and dodge artillery, and take on a few waves of attackers, would be perfect for this Urban Warfare. Would be cool to play 1 or 2 two of those in a larger city area. Perfect for setting up ambushes etc.

Another neat aspect would be factions. There could be 3 or more factions in the game, instead of 2. You could have the Government main bad guys, your revolutionary group, and an extremist group (or two). This would open up the possibility of working with the gov to defeat the extremes, or working with the extremes to defeat the gov. ORRRR if you make them both mad, they work together to defeat you. The enemy of my enemy is my friend, right?

I mentioned in another forum sending troops on missions. Instead of 8/8 escorts, then your done, make it so they appear when you send troops on those missions.

For example, I send 4 fighters to ambush a convoy, the ambush side quest symbol will appear on my map. Given a 10-20 minute window, I can go there and activate the mission manually, and take part in the event, or let it continue automatically if the % chance of success was high enough. This works for sending medicine to civilians, or selling drugs. The Escort side quest icon will appear and i can ride shotgun, or ignore it and let it go automatically.

Someone mentioned in another post how they would run to protect the soldiers in far cry 4 but soon it just became a hassle and they, like myself, ignore most of the cries for help. If their lives mattered, however, I would save them. With a troops meter in the corner (like the Crew Meter from AC:BF) losing the troops would matter, as would destroying propaganda centers to gain followers, or capturing convoys for supplies to send troops on missions.

Capturing Intel instead of providing karma points, actually provides INTEL on enemy movements, say an attack on an outpost you can go defend, or face losing troops and supplies!!

    Utilize all far cry history

I am the biggest far cry fan and love every game made. But Every game has different favorites for each different aspect. FC2 was all around the best in many forms and a return to its african roots would be great. maybe not far cry 5 but make a Far Cry 2.5. The realism of survival in far cry 2 has not been matched. The continuos need for meds to curb your malaria made it a nuissance but became your top priorty when running low if you dont want to pass out. Another great part was your weapons degrading and malfunction at the worst possible time. Another was healing system was astounding as you had to stop and pull bullets out of your arm or leg or some kinda injury made it realistic cause you need to treat your wound. expanding on this would be awesome, like a close range shotgun shot debilitate you to crawl to safety to attend your wounds while fending off your shooter with your weapon. The same was with enemy AI. In FC2 they would sneak and hide on you untill you found them. The best was not knowing where they were shooting you from. In FC3 and 4 where the enemy icon indicator showed you where you were getting shot from defeats the purpose of the unknown. FC3 and 4 had animals which were amazing but wished these were in FC2. Animals find you before you find them though so much work is needed on animal instinct, and personality.

Other things to think about for a new far cry game would be, no one just leaves vehicles sitting around open. stealing a vehicle and hot wiring it is more feasible and vehicles that cannot be fixed. Africa has the best set game for wildlife, civil unrest, and factions that have no mercy.

Yes, to Alaska. No, to tribes.

    Seriously, no more tribes.

To be fair Far Cry 3 was the only one with tribes. The groups in Far Cry 2 and 4 were just the people in the country fighting a civil war, it just happens they are under developed in a 3rd world country.

That is why I am hesitant to say a Middle Eastern or North African location. It would be another civil war which to me, honestly it's fine, but it runs the risk over being over played. Now Alaskan Natives are modernized. They aren't so much stuck in the past. They like their traditions and all, but they use motor boats, and trade with modern communities for some things, so it wouldn't be Tribal like Far Cry 3 ritual sacrifices and half naked again.

I am making a Far Cry Alaska map, modeled after some images I have found, check it out, it will be up in a few hours!

Yeah, that's true. I guess I'm just burnt out with the whole, under developed, 3rd world country theme. As I mentioned in your other topic, this pertains to the architecture as well. The game's just starting to feel a bit redundant at this point. That being said; modernized Alaskan Natives doesn't sound so bad when you put it like that.

A bit off topic but if they do go with Alaska, I would like them to expand on the rock climbing element. I think that was a really cool improvement to the series.

I'd like to check out your map, do you have any screens or video footage?

I thought that would be pretty cool as well, throwing in a free hand rock climbing. That also opens up the possibility for the environment (other than animals) to harm you. Say a loose rock if you are not paying attention to where you are climbing, may break off and cause you to lose your grip and maybe fall.

This would really only replace the vine ladder seen a few times over Kyrat, or replace some climbable ledge. If you tried to make E-V-E-R-Y 90 degree angle like that all over the map that is just asking for problems.

I don't have any video or screen shots sadly, but it's on Xbox One under "Far Cry Alaska, Han".

I like the idea of tribes and other indigenous struggles, but that's me. Alaska and oil drilling sounds great. Maybe even some kind of fracking thing somewhere too. Hmmmmmmmmm

It would also open up tactical explosions in out door in areas with a pipeline! Not just restricted to barrels or propane tanks.
