What do you want in Far Cry 5?

Huge fan of Far Cry, and I loved Far Cry 4, I really felt like a part of the golden path movement. I look forward to being part of more resistance movements and overthrowing more governments.

It occurred to me however, while playing Far Cry 4 again for about the 20th time, that while playing the mission "Rebel Yell" it really didn't matter that I saved those soldiers. They didn't do anything later on, and when the Monastery is attacked, you still have plenty of time to set up defenses etc. You get to make the right choice, whatever you believe it is, but there needs to be more consequences!!

I recently played through AC Black Flag, and when I saved the soldiers in "Rebel Yell" I pictured a meter in the corner showing the number of people in your rebellion. Much like the Crew meter.

Now if I hadn't saved them, the meter would have dropped, And I would have less people to support my cause. Than with the bell towers constantly spewing propaganda, again you sync with it and unlock areas of the map, but getting rid of the propaganda doesn't really send more people to your cause. BUT IT SHOULD!

Not only that, but you should be able to send them on missions like the ships in AC. Send them to ambush a patrol, or weapons depot, or bring medicine to civilians, etc. Letting these trade routes or towns go unprotected will lose followers and supporters.

If you help someone in a rescue mission, and return to them they say thank you and they'll repay you the only way they know how, by joining the Golden Path. But do they really? It doesn't matter if they do or don't, you know? But it should. That meter should fill up, and as you take Outposts, capacity increase, and as you ambush convoys your supplies fill up, and thus your ability to send troops on missions.

Capturing opium shipments you can sell, but gives you a bad name, or destroying them for the good of the future, while sacrificing supplies.

It all sounds really in depth, but really it's all been done in Black Flag. However, as part of a resistance movement to be able to see your actions increase your supporters etc, when you do something right would be really neat!

On a side note, while you may not be the LEADER of the movement, you may have your own Platoon of soldiers loyal to you, and say if wanting to get rid of Sabal and the troops loyal to him, or attacking a Stronghold with lots of troops, being able to call a squad for help, or even send them all on their own, and see if they capture it! With a % chance of success you can decide if you should be there or if they can handle it themselves.

Building off of "Troop Missions", if those events actually appeared on the map. Say a 10 - 20 minute window where if you arrive in time, you can activate the mission manually and take part in it, with your troops as it happens. If you miss the window than it carries on the mission automatically.

Intel should also be useful. Instead of only providing Karma points, they should actually provide intel such as an Assassination mission, Retake Outpost event, or a Bomb Defusing event. Being tipped off (again a 20 min window) to the event allows you to take action, or risk losing supplies.

    1. Simple multiplayer. Basic modes like Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag/Sample, etc. As far as I'm concerned the only asymmetrical multiplayer they got right was Instincts/Predator. If Ubisoft is determined to continue this trend, fine but don't forget the basics! Split-screen would also be great. Couch multilayer should not be forgotten.

    2. Dirt bikes

    3. Architecture that doesn't look like it's about ready to fall apart. Bored with the whole "ruin" look.

    4. Gore. The game is already M and doesn't shy away from blood and bullet entry wounds. It looks ridiculous to witness an enemy take a rocket head on and their ragdoll body land unscathed and all in one piece. Take it to the next level.

    5. Enemies that don't wear bright colors. They are too noob friendly. Also, while I'm on the topic of enemies; no more bullet sponges! Animals like tigers take way too many hits. Just make them deal more damage but easier to put down.

Like the dirt bikes idea, would also be great to have a horse! As a vehicle that follows you around, and as used in hunting to hide behind, or if needed use as a meat shield o.o

AND YES! to couch multiplayer. With everything being online sure it's great to play with friends and strangers, but I loved playing NAZI zombies with my Dad on CoD. There hasn't been that kind of split-screen experience really since the new gen consoles came out.

As for the bright colors I too have a problem with it, but I understand the need to distinguish between friend and foe. However a uniform such as the rags and AK's the rebels carry, vs the Vest and Helmets of Army soldiers, may be enough to distinguish this. Or throw in an obvious shoulder patch with a bright Red star so it is there, but not there, there, and THERE.

#I agree, simple multiplayer. Aliens vs Colonial Marines; is the only asymmetric multiplayer I can think of that I want to play.

#take the mechanics that work [e.g; adaptive cover, stealth]; and just try to improve them-like what Homefront 2's doing. If e.g Homefront: The Revolution ends up having a better cover system; steal it. If not, yours is still the best I've played and is essential to the experience.

#get rid of animals-as they're the WORST type of 'bullet sponge' enemy. A simple rule of thumb should be; any animals/creatures that aren't animated as well as humans [e.g, reacting to being shot in the foot]: should be gone. It doesn't ruin the game for me-as I just set fire to stuff to scare them away, but it's annoying. However I can think of several people I know personally, who adore Battlefront-but won't touch Far Cry, because the hunting rubs them up the wrong way. So that's a part of your natural audience which is lost. Not everyone likes hunting defenceless animals, in fact-from my experience; that's the most offputting feature of Far Cry 3 and 4. For other people, I mean. Feel free to replace animals with Dinosaurs IF [and ONLY if]; they react as well to individual gunshot wounds as humans. For similar reasons, heavy-armoured enemies; are the weakest enemies and EVERYONE hated the mutant space aliens in the original Far Cry. People play this game to have gunfights, with people. So make outposts tougher by throwing in more people-simple. Speaking of shooting people, a couple of friends have pointed out that the guns lack "ommph"-like the bullets don't really connect physically. If you absolutely MUST have animals then a) make sure they go down as easily and are animated as well as humans and b) make them one-hit deadly to make up for their lack of X-Wing shields, like in., Alien; Isolation. Being stalked by a tiger [which you could hear]; might actually thus be fun. If done well-enough, combined with the ability to go prone, improved mechanics and a new graphics engine: that could be enough to make it feel fresh. Reviewers will kick you in the arse, if you release Far Cry V-and it still feels, plays [and looks] like Far Cry 3.

#the ability to go prone. C'mon, if you're in the army and someone shoots at you; you're taught to go prone. In COD and MGSV; you go prone. If it's a problem for multiplayer, disable it for multiplayer. But it's never hurt COD.

#better AI. Really, this probably just comes under 'improving mechanics'. But as the cover system gets better, and players get more experience with the mechanics; the AI will need to improve-along with the number of enemies looking for and fighting you. You could really push this as a next-gen feature; battles that rage across the map, counter attacks [you already have the latter, but it feels more 'gamey' and less 'next-gen'], as they simply pop out of nowhere and magically attack the outpost nearest you.

    # more hardcore. Again, if Homefront; The Revolution does well [and it DOES look like an unofficial Far Cry V]; please take note. That game combines the mechanics of FC 3 and 4, tries to improve each one in turn, and places it in a more hardcore setting-somewhat akin to Far Cry 2. In some ways that game was still the best in the series e.g; fire that could wipe out entire towns by jumping roads, and weapons that jammed [or outright exploded]-meaning even a dull fight with one or two grunts could become very exciting. Who didn't enjoy an rpg dropping and spinning at your feet, c'mon. I used and collected old guns ONLY; because it made basic encounters so much more interesting. Might I suggest, that repopulating outposts wasn't really the problem so much as; there was no way to go around them. Far Cry 3 and 4 get duller and more linear, the more outposts you liberated; sterilizing the gameworld of meaningful content. A much more interesting sounding approach, is what HF:TR is doing: replacing 'liberation' with 'introducing a friendly patrol and supplies'. See what they're doing? They're taking the basic gameplay of Far Cry 4 and trying to improve it. By going more hardcore.

#jetpacks!!!! Oh please oh please. Why not? Far Cry is 'magical realism' anyway, so why not. Rock climbing at set points, sorry; it sucks. Being able to climb rock at any point [e.g adaptive climbing just like the cover system is adaptive], would solve that. Jetpacks; would be best of all.

#More guns. Whilst everyone has their favourites..variety is always needed for a sequel. I believe that fans and reviewers alike gave Far Cry 4 a free-pass, given how similar it is in almost every-way to Far Cry 3. A free-pass is only handed out once.

#smile:-) You make lots of money and make people at least a little happier. Far Cry 4 remains my favourite PS4 game, even after MGSV [which isn't as satisfying as a shooter]. Far Cry 3 was a vast improvement over Far Cry 2-and was my favourite '360 game-even in spite of hardcore sacrifices made.
Again, I would observe closely Homefront 2, as they have clearly been observing Far Cry 2, 3 and 4. Remember, there's formidable competition on the near-horizon, and the success of Far Cry 3 and 4; hasn't gone unnoticed by the industry. Far Cry 4 was your free-pass; now you have to step up your game.

    Better multiplayer -
    1. Dedicated servers.
    2. 10vs10 players or more.
    3. Assault from Far Cry 1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    4. Building barricades around flags like Far Cry 1!
    5. Different profession figures: Medic, engineer, sniper, ... like Far Cry 1.
    6. User multiplayer map.

    Game:
    Better support for mods.

@fourheadedgoat, I could see a dinosaur mode in multiplayer/splitscreen going really well. The first Far Cry game plays around with genetically mutated apes and humans, but keeps an odd sci fi alien side to them. Jurassic Park re-creates dinosaurs in a similar fashion, although their's are Dino/frog hybrids really.

REALISTIC LIGHTING. When I first started Far Cry 4 the colors were so bright, I wish I could have turned the contrast down to dull down the colors. I ended up turning the brightness up, so the colors weren't so dark. I loved the graphics, the trees moved, the bushes react when you touch them, great. But the colors reminded me of watching The Hobbit, in the sense that the colors were really contrast, almost to the point of being cartoony. An Easy fix by turning the brightness up a little bit.

    Prone, yessss

Lot's of tiny Outposts with 5 guys, or a Few Strongholds, military bases, occupied city, etc with lots of troops. On the topic of bullet sponges, if ever I encountered a Rhino, Tiger, Heavy guard, I throw a landmine and be done with it. Keeping some unarmorued troops like the first few mission, and than as you move on throw in some with body armor to take some more damage, but yes bullet sponges kind of suck. Allowing them to deal more damage (like snipers do) while keeping them relatively easy to kill. Using an AK near the end of the game requires almost 20 bullets center mass to result in a kill!

Damage system. If I shoot a Guard in the leg, he should limp, etc.

I love the Jetpack idea, not as equipment you are always carrying around, but more so along the realistic jetpack used in the Red Bull Jetpack stunt. I could see this playing a fun part in a few missions, but I do not see it replacing the wingsuit. It would be cool to see more of that daredevil kind of stuff. Throw in some base jumping, or free hand rock climbing like mentioned above.

Violence. I'm talking Steven Seagal kind of hand to hand breaking bones, punching out throats brutal kind of takedowns! Or go to a Marine training groudn where they teach some martial arts for hand to hand combat. Militaries around the world train troops in some sort of hand to hand, martial arts, kravmaga, etc. so learning some sort of hand to hand from a rebel group could be possible.
