    How to overwrite Cloud Save?

I am currently replaying the game and I backed up my previous finished playthrough so I wouldn't lose the save. I backed it up and disabled cloud syncing. Then I started a new game and played until I got to the first real save point so it would create a new save file. So far so good. Just to make sure I also backed up that new save file. Now I reenabled cloud syncing and expected to see the "Do you want to choose local or cloud save" dialogue since they are not the same anymore. But instead it just completly overwrote my new save with the old one. I again tried to replace the old one with the new one, this time with cloud syncing enabled. But again it just overwrote the local one instead of open the dialogue. How do I get the "Choose local or cloud save" dialogue so I can overwrite the cloud save?

question why do you need a cloud save ?

why not just shut that function totally off ?

it is only useful if you play your ubi game on a few different computers

your save files are located in program files X 86 / ubisoft / ubisoft launcher /saved games on your hard drive

if you RE enable the cloud again yes it will install your last cloud save .. that's how cloud saves work

my advise keep it off and delete your local game saves before starting a new game

and i know it works that way as i can replay any mission that i made a back up of each one

used win 7 to make my back ups of each mission

installed win 10 since then and i can copy and paste my way from the wolves den all the way to the mission Payback ..or replay the Willis missions or pick amita or Sabal missions if you re enable the cloud saves yes that can screw up your game as well as your game progress since each time you make a decision on who leads the golden path has consequences on the out come of the game ..there is more then one out come after all ..and each has separate endings as well as cut scenes
choose amita you get different missions then if you choose sabal

the only way the u play cloud works well is if your playing the game say on a desktop and switch to your laptop ..so you do not lose your progress

that's all its for ..and about after all

First of all thanks for all the responses. Ofcourse I could just keep the cloud function off, but since I will probably play later on a different PC this week I thought I might give it a shot. In the end you guys are probably right, though I would really like to know how to get this dialogue. Just for sake of curiosity.

what i did was backed up the save files to a USB thumb drive that way i can move a save to another PC (i e go between my desk top and my laptop )

this way you can also create multiple saves to your game i used to have a link to a video that showed how easy it is to back up the save games if i can find it i'll post a link .. here it is

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E8cTOvbgyrs

again if you have the steam version of the game the folder number for your saved games in not 420 as described in the vid ..the steam version uses 856 for a folder name , the u play only version uses folder name 420

u play only version = C\ program files X86 / ubisoft /ubisoft games launcher / saved games *series of letters and numbers* /420

Steam version = C\ program files X86 / ubisoft /ubisoft games launcher / saved games *series of letters and numbers* /856

to make my save files what i did was start a mission , exit the game using alt tab

then go to my USB drive and create a folder with the name of the mission then copy my
C\ program files X86 / ubisoft /ubisoft games launcher / saved games *series of letters and numbers* /856 folder over (i have the steam version of far cry 4 )

to the USB thumb drive ..then i can copy and paste to play the game from any point or mission

and of course you need to keep the Uplay cloud save sync setting to off for it to work this way ..other wise the save that's on the cloud will want to overwrite your current save with the last one you left on the u play cloud

and i found that if you do not erase the save files that are stored on your hard drive in that savedgames folder before you start a new game ... it can make the game go a bit wonky as it some how counts things as completed .. yet you never did them .. or they don't show up at all

example when i did my first replay of the game i had a bug where no pagans wrath convoys would show up at all thru the entire game and i also could not unlock the Vehicle take-down skill the normal way by completing one Kyrat films race

so i had to delete the saved game off my hard drive to get a fresh start

then restart the game ..then the skill unlocked normally and the pagans wrath convoys showed up at regular intervals

i do not know if they fixed that bug i did open a support ticket on it

but resolved the issue myself by just making sure when i start a new game i go in and delete the left over savedgames that were left from my previous playthrough

    Hey, hunt45!

We appreciate any and all feedback, however this thread is from 2015 so is outdated, we do support the option of choosing to disable cloud saves. Is there anything you require support with?
