I'd be surprised if this wasn't a known issue, but seeing as I haven't seen it in the forums (or in the list of known issues) I thought I'd post it here anyway.
Some effects have enormous selection areas that interfere with the selection of other objects in a track. A good example of this (but not the worst) is the Airlock Blast from the Empire of the Sky DLC. An Ideal solution would be to make the selection area of all effects the same as a standard tool card.
Chances are this problem exists on other platforms, but I can only confirm it's the case on PS4 right now.
its on xbox1 too. a lot of the effects from abyss & fire in the deep have this issue. the the light beams and the big glowing light for example. they can be 100 meters away you have to be directly in front of the other object to get it. i put these fx on a separate layer and hide it. makes it a lot easier![]()
