So just a simple suggestion. It seems that when you currently die in For Honor, the camera automatically zooms into the sky into what I think is called the Tactical View. My suggestion would be to make this optional. So when you die, if you want to go into tactical mode, you would just hit triangle. Or you can hit X if you want to switch view to another team member. Or you press nothing and can view the area that you died in, until you respawn.
I don't really know exactly how it works, but it seems like the tactical cam is automatic in it's current form. It seems like your body barely hits the ground and the camera is already zooming up into the sky, lol. It kind of reminds me of kill cams in other games and I have always kind of disliked those. Giving us options of what we want to do with the camera is the better solution, I think.
Thanks for hearing me out. A simple thing and not a big deal at all, but figured I would mention it. This game is looking nuts, by the way, lol.
I don't know if you saw it or not, but in the thread about new gameplay from gamescom, there was just posted one that has a small bit about this, and they said you can press X to switch to other teammates' views. I think the idea of the Tactical View is to get a good view of the entire battlefield---especially because you get to see little dots representing every player and the state of objectives---so that you can figure out where you want to go once you respawn.
Yeah, I am definitely not going to question the usefulness of the Tactical View. I was just wondering if they could make it where you had to press a button in order to access it rather than make it automatic every single time you get killed.
Just a simple example, but say I was with a friend and we were engaged in a close 2 vs 2 fight. If I get taken out I would like to watch to see if my friend finishes off the other two foes rather than being forced into tactical view immediately.
Like I said, though, definitely not a big deal or anything. But figured I would offer it up as a suggestion since the game is still in an early state and it doesn't seem like something that would be too difficult to implement.
But yeah, game is looking great. It's refreshing to see a large company like Ubisoft allow a passionate director like VandenBerghe to pursue his vision. I feel like that is something we have lost with the much larger budgets and studios in recent years. Going to be a long wait, but should be fun to check out any new info released from now until the game comes out. Good times.
That's a good point. What if they made it so the 'switch character' function took you to the teammate nearest your dead body first? That way, if you get killed, you can press X and then be right back there with them.Originally Posted by Voidrek Go to original post
I guess that wouldn't be too bad, but if you look at this vid at about 7:53

At the bottom of the screen it says X for Switch Target and Triangle for Tactical View. It would be nice if they just put that option up when you died so you can decide what you want to do rather than taking you straight to Tactical View. But yeah, not a big deal really, lol. Just something that was bothering me a bit when I was watching the latest footage. The guy's body barely hit the ground and the camera was zooming up into the air, hah.
Thanks for the comments, though.
I think you're right, actually. You can see as he's cycling through players, when the countdown timer to respawn reaches zero, it switches to tactical view for a moment anyway, so that you get the (really cool, in my opinion) respawn animation, of the camera zooming down to your character.Originally Posted by Voidrek Go to original post
It also seems like an easy thing to tweak.
Yeah, I am assuming there will be a lot of tweaks regarding the UI from now until release, so perhaps this can be one of them. We will see.
At this point I just want to see more footage in general. Just love what I am seeing from this game and from what I have read on other forums, the general reaction to it seems overwhelmingly positive.
