I just updates to from Win7 to Win10 and now FC4 will not launch. Initial error was a failure to initialize an offline profile that was in the Documents/My Games/Far Cry 4 folder. I uninstalled then reinstalled the game and it is now crashing when trying to setup my profile. I'm now getting File System Failure: Aborting execution. It calls out the GameProfile.xml file located in the same Documents/My Games/Far Cry 4 folder, but the Far Cry 4 folder is not there when I check. Any ideas? I'm getting ready to roll back to Win7 where everything was working perfectly.
Hey Shonn,
So Far Cry 4 was made before Windows 10 OS was released, and isn't officially supported. WID992007 has some good tips that I was about to suggest, so please try them!
Other things you can try include;
1) making sure you have all your drivers up-to-date.
2) Try to run Uplay with no other programs running in the background
3) Try uninstalling/reinstalling both Uplay and Far Cry 4.
If it still ends up crashing, you can contact support. This guide shows how you can send them relevant files for them to be able to help you troubleshoot the issue.
also verify your game files if you have upgraded to windows 10
you just replaced your operating system . so doing a full file verify may help do so when running either steam or uplay as run as ADMIN for best results
To verify your files if you bought the game thru Steam
go to your Steam games library
right click on far cry 4
select properties
select local files
select verify Integrity of game cache
it takes a few min to do but its faster the redownloading your entire game , if its only a few files that were corrupt or installed incorrectly .... this in many cases will fix your problems getting the game to start
If you have the U play only Version of the game you can also verify your game files with U play
if you have the game via u play only here are instructions how to verify your game files thru their client

again the main point to remember to right click your . exe for steam or u play and select run as admin
if you have the game via origin i suspect its about the same .. dunno ..as my version is from steam
So I played 30 mins on Skyrim today, then loaded it back up this evening to discover my game didn't save properly. Read through some of the Steam forums and the solution to the Skyrim save game problem was also the solution to this problem!
Here is what you need to do:
1. Open the Documents folder.
2. Right click on the My Games folder and select properties.
3. Click the Security tab.
4. Click the Edit button.
5. Select the Home Users group by left clicking it once (it will highlight when selected).
6. Click the check box for Full Control.
7. Click the Apply button.
Relaunch game and it should load right up! Hope this helps!
I've been playing Far Cry 4 quite a while now, just about 35-40 hours and it has been working fine, until a few days ago, when it has turned up a black flicker in the foreground...It's not at launch, but it turns up after a while(a minute or 10 minutes)...I upgraded my windows 7 to windows 10 a couple of days ago, could that have caused it? Please help!

I have the same problem. I upgraded to windows 10 a few months back and today I thought, why not play Far Cry 4.
The game continues to boot and wants to install DX, frameworks etc etc in a 5/5 step. It proceeds to the loading screen before the main menu screen appears and then crashes with a classic windows error that won't solve anything. If I try to restart it the game the same thing happens, it wants to install all the 5 things AGAIN. Already here I find it strange.
I did some digging and I ended up on this thread. Is any solve going to be made? I don't want to sound like an a**hole but many of us already waited months for the SLI fix. After all we paid for this game.

if the game has a problem with your direct X files then your problems could be indeed much worse and you may have a deeper problem with your operating system
you can find the proper Direct X files as well as .Net Framework and C++ files right in the games support directory if you need to re install them
try re downloadeing the game or Run both Steam as well as Uplay (if you have the game via Steam ) as RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR and also ....verify your game files
to verify your files if you bought the game thru Steam ..\EXIT Steam ..right click your steam icon ..select run as Administrator
to launch Steam
go to your Steam games library
right clik on far cry 4
select properties
select local files
select verify Integrity of game cache

Again its probably best to make sure you launch Uplay as RUN as Administrator when you do a file verify

In Uplay, top left corner, settings, uncheck "Enable in-game overlay for supported games". Also uncheck both notification boxes. This got it going for me. Not sure what one did the trick but it did load the game after doing this. It did however crash after about 45 minutes of gameplay. I think that may be another, older issue with the game.
