Software Bug introduced in Updates that has eliminated ambient music while exploring

I’m concerned about an issue that is plaguing the game of Far Cry 4. The fact that the ambient music that plays in the background of FC 4 when the player is exploring and free-roaming is non-existent, it’s simply disappeared from the game. The only music present in the game now is when doing certain story mission sequences, bell towers, and outposts. This is not how the game originally launched by the developers. I didn’t play Far Cry 4 at launch, however I have talked to many people who did, and they all say there was indeed ambient music in the background when exploring. It is my conclusion, and is shared by many others, that this issue was introduced in one of the software patch updates for FC4. From everyone I’ve talked to this is an issue on both PS4 and Xbox One (I have the Xbox One version), I’m unaware as to the state of the PC and last gen versions. I’ve talked to several people who have re-installed the launch version of the game and purposefully DID NOT download the updates, and lo and behold, the ambient music is back when exploring. This is quite an upsetting issue for me as music in games is something I hold as very important to the experience. It adds greatly to the immersion and character of a game. The soundtrack for FC 4 is held in high esteem as Cliff Martinez was commissioned to create it and he did a wonderful job.

Now on July 24, I created a support ticket about this issue on Ubisoft’s support website, below is my question:

I'm concerned as to whether there is an in-game music bug affecting FarCry 4. I just recently bought the game and have played about 7 hrs. I have all the latest updates downloaded. I've noticed there is NO music when I'm free-roam exploring and fooling around. Music only comes on for certain mission sequences and mission gunfights. Is this the way the game is supposed to be? It just feels empty without music, and I've heard that the ambient music for Far Cry 4 is stellar. Is this a bug tied to one of the latest updates? It would be great if Ubisoft support could clear up this issue for me, I would really appreciate it, thank you! Also, every time I've tried to login to Uplay on Far Cry 4 it doesn't work, I get an error message.

This is the reply I got from Leticia at Ubisoft Support:

    Thanks for contacting Ubisoft.

The only time you're supposed to hear music while playing Far Car 4 is when you're driving. Otherwise there isn't any music unless you're in story mood.

Now, this is quite odd. I see only 2 possibilities for this answer she gave to me.
    1. She is misinformed about the true state of Far Cry 4 when it launched in Nov. 2014 with all the ambient music intact and believes to the best of her knowledge that the state the game is in now in July 2015 (with no ambient music while exploring) is the way it was intended by developers all along.

    2. The other possibility is that she is deliberately lying. Why? The only thing I can think of is that Ubisoft is busy right now preparing the titles that are launching in holiday 2015, and don’t want to spare any software engineers to fix an issue in a game that already launched and generated most of its revenue. The thing is, it has only been about 9 months since Far Cry 4 launched. Not even a year!!! Is this the kind of post-launch support I can expect from Ubisoft for all their games? This kind of behavior does not inspire consumer confidence and loyalty. This ambient music issue for Far Cry 4 is such a detractor for me that I’ve stopped playing the game until it gets fixed. This is unfortunate as I really do enjoy the gameplay. I’m not getting the experience as it was originally intended though, and that just doesn’t sit well with me.

    3. There may be a 3rd option…that the devs intentionally patched out all the ambient music…but why? That wouldn’t make any sense…

Child of Eden, Child of Light, and Far Cry 4 are the most recent Ubisoft titles that I have purchased. I’m interested in the future Ubisoft titles of Ghost Recon: Wildlands, and Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate (this would be the first AC game I’ve played). However, if Ubisoft does not fix this ambient music issue with Far Cry 4 I’m definitely not supporting any future game releases by their company. How could I? Knowing what the future post-launch support will be like for all those games, that they will just be abandoned as the studio works on churning out more releases. I’ll make sure to let all my friends and acquaintances know by word of mouth the sub-par post-launch support they can expect from a Ubisoft game.
However, if Ubisoft does listen and take it to heart to fix this ambient music issue with FC 4, I will greatly appreciate this and will immediately buy the Season Pass for FC 4 that includes all the FC 4 DLC. And I’ll make sure to let everyone I know that is into gaming that Ubisoft does listen to their fans and will fix issues with their game software in post-launch support. And I will most certainly purchase some future titles from their studio.

    Sincerely and Best,
    Loonsmile

    Bring back the background jams!

I opened a ticket and here was Ubi's response:

Until this issue is addressed by the development team, there is no additional Information.

Super helpful. One rep tells you the music was never there, another tells me they have no info about it, and a ton of gamers are crying foul. If it was never there, then explain the 4 tracks on the OST that simply "disappeared" from the game.

This is a crying shame. Cliff Martinez created a masterpiece and it was the perfect icing on the beautiful cake that is Kyrat. No one would care if it weren't for the fact that this is an amazing game with tons of replay value. I'm playing on PS4, but it's clear this isn't console-specific.

So what do we need to do, start a petition? I'm all about it.
