Are Shangri-La missions mandatory for game progression? I didn't like the first one and don't want anymore of them. The Shangri-La mission is were the world is red and you're accompanied by a white tiger. You run around with a knife in your hand. I found this mission boring and want to avoid them. I can't seem to move on to other areas of the map. I get a message: I need to complete more missions.
I hated the Shangri-La missions. They are very beautiful (would work as a completely separate game) but very disconnected from the main game. I only played the first one:

Only the first Shangri-La mission is necessary for completion of the story in FC4.
Oddly, that first Shangri-La mission is scored as one of the regular Campaign Missions on the Progress page in your game. That is why there are only 4 Shangri-La Missions listed on the Progress page, yet there are 5 pieces to the Shangri-La tapestry in Ajay's mountain homestead.
Oh, yes, there are 5 of it to complete the picture
