The X45/MSFFB combo is the ultimate in immersion IMO when you throw in rudderpedals and TIR. The nice thing is that FB will recognize and fully utilise up to 4 controllers.. and the X45 counts as one controller. I use the stick as a button bay forward of and slightly to the left of my throttle. I use every function on the X45 except the pitch and roll axii which I keep on my MSFFB as it is the main flight stick. If you take the time to think about it and program the profiling software you can put every function in FB on one of your sticks and NEVER have to touch your keyboard again to fly. I have a combo profile on our squad site.. feel free to use it, although it has since been updated. Even those special commands like seperate engine starts and manual gear raise/lower are all programmed on my sticks. Dive brakes, drop tanks, fire extinguisher, tip smoke, map, radiator, quick record.. all that. Since you paid good money or you will pay good money for the X45 there is no reason short of a lack of deskspace not to use the entire stick. One thing about my profile though... since i have rudder pedals I have the rudder rocker assigned to flaps in banded mode and rudder trim is on the twist of my FFB stick. You might want to put your rudder on the twist handle if you dont have pedals. I am in the process of working on a key map and updating the new profile which has everything just about on the sticks but the older profile is good too. Should you decide to use it just make sure you assign the key commands in the FB controls menu to the same keystrokes or it wont work properly. It contains a Sidewinder profile, a Saitek profile , a readme and a list of key commands. In the next profile I will just put a notepad file that can be dropped into the config.ini file so you wont have to go through re assigning all those buttons. The whole process should take about 20 moinutes but it will be worth it. Enk has a decent profile for the same combo too.

Hi I was wondering if you can help me. I have a x45/Msffb2 and ch pro pedals. My x45 is not hooked up yet but I would like to use the x45 as my throttle. I am a total noob unfortunately and i need quideance. I mainly use my msfbb2 and my ch pro pedals playing DCS.
    I have a few questions:
    1. The profile that you are talking about is it for joytokey software? or do i need to use a different software?
    2. Do i need drivers for the x45 ? if so, where can i get them?
    3. If i am using the joytokey software, how do I map the throttle?

Wow.. I just popped in here and saw this.. it has been a while since I stopped by... The SW I was talking about was not Joy to key.. I am not familiar with it... I was referring to the Saitek SW from the official site

You map the throttle in the sim... Mission 4 Today is the single most prolific site for just about anything IL2 in cyberspace.
