And lot of crashes too . Guess I was doin' pretty well for the first time online...

Point of this thread isn't to say my score online (BTW I have nothing to be proud of ), just to point out some things that are confusing me.

"Cheating has been detected". Funny message. Nobody is cheating yet there are that message. Almost every time I experience fps dropdown (stutter, whatever) I got this message. I'm on 56k. This issue has been brought here before I know, but

What is the optimum connection speed (or what hardware I must have to achieve that-DSL, ISDN...)? Also I wanna mention that I lowered visual sett. to minimum, man I could barely see anything (that one kill must be lucky one ).

    Have 1.0Celeron, 256SDRAM, 5600FX, 56k.

    Cheers

    Congratulations !!

The 'cheating' message you are getting is generated when the server detects a poor connetion speed from a client and is simply that it can also be caused when a large number of players are on one server but are connected from many different locations. I am not sure I am entirely understanding your question here but I would suggest you check out the ping of the server you are connecting too. If on hyper lobby I would try and get a server with a ping to your computer of around 250 at least preferably lower. Anything higher and you will start to experiance the effects you mention. The only other option is to upgrade to a cable / dsl service provider if one is available in your locality. Also it may be worth shuting down as many background / task bar applications as you can as online play really does demand your computers full attention. Things like msn virus checkers ect can cause you to lagg out in game. Another thing worth checking is that you dont have any spyware running on your system as these can clogg up your net speed also. Check out adaware and spybot both are free and will clean up any problems of this type you may have picked up whilst surfing around the net. I would post links but both can be found quite easily via google. Also try search this forum as I am sure you will find many more posts of this type with solutions and workarounds as this question like you say has cropped up many times before.

In short if you are getting this problem a lot from one particular server then I would hunt around for a different server.

Hope that helps in some way and good luck S!

Thanks for info. About ping particularly. In the near future I intend to upgrade my PC(at this time I'm on little shortage of $ ) on higher internet connection speed and maybe new processor with what's more important new MBO (current one is running on 10x100MHz=1.0GHz).

About closing down just about any window and application that isn't needed while playing, that is my common practice. Also I'm using Spybot1.3. Very good program (however it have some minor problems like constant message "DSO exploit found" or something, but devs of Spybot promised they would change that in the next versions of the program).
    Thanks again and cheers.

You are confused m8!! I get confused when I see a Me109E out turn a Zero!! And pleeeze don't get me started on the arcade like stall/spins. It also took me awhile before I got my first kill to. I keep reading the forums and practicing hoping some for more kills.

I will keep flying and crashing untill I get better.

The community needs people like you and I m8, 'Moving Targets' !!

    1.8 Ghz Celeron here, with 768MBDDR RAM, 5200FX, 56k connecting at 26.4kbps.

Here is what I changed my cheating messages to.

    user_cheating1 {0} has a high Ping!
    user_cheating2 {0} has a lousy ISP!
    user_cheating3 {0} is causing lag!

I run Spybot S&D 1.2 and pest patrol. Look for rooms with a ping of 250 or less. Turn skin download off in IL2 setup. More memory is somthing that you will need more of, 768 or more is good enough. I have vitually no problems when connecting to 250 or less pinged rooms. I only have high pings when running TS and conneting to places other than the US.

edit: my first kill...flew an I.A.R. 81, took out an IL2 and a 109 in a room called ACE_EP, I dont know who ran it, I think it was Ash_Housewares.
