After working on a track that has been saved previously, such as MountainTrack003, I then resave the track over MountainTrack003. I have done this since Evolution and only make new files (ex. MountainTrack004) when I make large updates to the track. Never before have I had problems saving over my old data, but now it won't save any new objects I place. The game will however save the new positions of the objects that were present in the last save.
For example, a few hours ago I loaded up my most recent map, located in a city. I had one ramp placed at the start, and nothing else. Over the course of two hours I moved that ramp and added many more ramps and objects. I then saved the map and exited Trials. I just returned and loaded the map back up to find ALL of the objects I had placed had been deleted, but the ramp that was there last time had been moved to its new position.
I believe that there is a bug in updating old saves where new objects are not added to a save file, but changes to existing objects are updated. This is only my thoughts on what might be happening, I have no idea for sure.
Has this happened to anyone else? I'm very frustrated to lose so much progress even though I save regularly and I save everything TWICE. Both of the files, original and backup, did not contain the new objects, but both had the ramp moved.
Thanks for any help! For now I guess I will just have to make a new Save File for everything...![]()
It's not related to saving over a file. I saved a track last night as a NEW file and went to open it tonight, and all the "new" objects that I had placed were gone. No trace of them. The stuff I had moved stayed moved, but no other new stuff. I have no idea what is happening but it's the most infuriating thing ever. I am now triple saving my work, just to lose it in all three files. This is setting me back big time, as I've now lost four different 5+ hour sessions of work, on two different maps (ruling out the scenario of a corrupted file).
Does anyone have some insight into what might be happening? My hunch is either on Saving, Layers, or the Undo Button. I read in the Patch notes that the Undo button would be fixed, so hopefully that might cure this problem too.
Thanks for any help! Hopefully we can figure this out![]()
Here is a video demonstrating exactly what happens. Notice that the smaller building piece and the pink triangle do not Save with the track, even though I just Saved it. My Editor will do this until I quit Trials and start it back up. Unlike the video, where I lose only two objects, I've lost over 100+ objects to this glitch, and I have no idea how to prevent it or watch out for it. Do you guys at Redlynx have any idea what is going on?
I think you're on to something. I just tried to save something on my alternate account with some objects under Multiplayer and when I came back they were gone. All the other objects were still intact though.Originally Posted by mutetus Go to original post
I just copied and pasted this from another thread guys , just to let you know others are having same problem , also if i recall correctly i can remember one time undo something i had just done ( one move ago ) and this is when all my logic from something had dissapeared also from over half an hour previous. The above seems to be on the right path , i too think it does have something to do with the undo and layers. I dont use layers knowingly but have recalled placing something on different layers by mistake before.
Ps glad this isnt just me , i thought for a moment i was going crazy thinking im sure i just did all that....
Hi guys , just reporting some wired stuff going on in the editor Ps4
Whilst building a track i am currently working on i have worked for an hour or so ne placing objects and so forth , also on logic. I will move on to something else within the track and then suddenly realise that the previous work i had done had just vanished ?. Sometimes not all the work but alot just leaving remnants of poles and so forth where big structures where. I also was working on some logic , saved the game and then half an hour later the logic dissapeared. thinking it was ok i had saved it re loaded the saved track again that i had worked on the logic only to find that it some how had been removed from even the save file also. This seems very strange and did nto even realise something like this could happen even on a saved track. I wondered if this was me being dumb or something but it has just happened again to me also.
I say that i am also using the long waterfall effects from the previous dlc , and know these seem to take up a massive area within the track and sometimes you can select and delete these if you use the selector tool even what may seem far away from this. At first i thought this might have been the case , but some objects that would have also been selected by the tool its self if this was what was happening would have also been deleted. but i do wonder if the size of these are casuing a problem some how in saves and from what i have explained above.
Seems very strange , like someone is half inching my buildings after i have built them hahaha , cant be chavs as the wheels on the cars and stereos are still there![]()
Hi again , just reporting that this problem ha sjsut happened again, An hours building a set of logic for something only to save it and then it vanish from the saved file. I guess its maybe as bog says , the logic thats being saved on one of the layers isnt actually saving somethimes when you save a game. Sometimes its the logic and sometimes it objects as well , so yeah i guess that would suggest that its the layers that are causing the problem.
Understand this aint not easy task but would appreciate it being sorted asp , making tracks is very hard if what ur are making doesnt save lol. dam annoying too.
cheers guys
