Wish I could turn back time

Well, not exactly. But I'd like to be able to downgrade a bike temporarily(!). I'm not very good and when the tracks for the story missions were new I had to upgrade my bikes to be able to beat the missions. And I think it could be quite interesting to see what can be done with a weaker bike now that I know some tracks better.
    Opinions?

Well, it has crossed my mind to start the game again to enjoy the story again (wasn't really paying attention the first time), and to rediscover the tracks. But I don't know.. downgrading the bikes? I have felt before that i had to readjust after upgrading the lean on bikes, but in the end all it does is make it easier and faster.

It may not be their preferred approach to this, but you can always create a new uplay ID and replay again. That way you still have your old progress out there still under your old ID. (strongly advise you to completely log off immediately after you relogin with a different uplay ID though....dont want any chance of the game mixing up the two IDs and corrupting your saved game).

FWIW, I inadvertently started over, but on my own account. I lost my android phone on vacation, so I logged into my account from my daughter's iPad. It didn't take me any time at all to lvl up to 10 again, and it was kind of fun dealing with underpowered bikes. I had learned enough about the tracks that I was very quickly getting into the top 10-25% of a lot of tracks just on technique.

Since then, during the bugs with the gifting system, I was regularly switching back and forth between my wife's account and mine with no issues on losing or corrupting my saved game.
