    Crashing after completing outpost

I would like some help regarding an issue I encountered yesterday:
Once I complete the first outpost (Khilana Bazaar near Banapur) the cut scene finishes and I am returned control of Ajay, at this point my game crashes with a dialogue from Windows telling me that "Far Cry 4 has stopped working." When I enter back into the game I am placed on the outskirts of the outpost and shown the outpost training dialogue as if I had never completed the outpost in the first place.

to fix this problem I have tried a few things; none of which worked (some of these may sound stupid):

    1. Restarted Far Cry and tried again.
    2. Increased fan speeds on the GPU, CPU and chassis fans and monitored heat before the crash.
    3. Tried to save the game just before the crash; which I found was not possible.
    4. Restarted my PC.
    5. Intentionally failed on the first attempt to succeed on the second.
    6. Turned off the power supply and unplugged my PC to leave it overnight.
    7. Restarted the campaign (got to the outpost and it crashed on all attempts).

I'm out of ideas, and I don't want to re-download the game as to not use up a large part of my capped internet usage. If anyone has any idea of how to fix this issue, I would welcome your suggestions.

Hi, sorry to hear you're having trouble! Try verifying your game files (instructions are near the bottom of the FAQ). You can always send us your system information if you'd like more technical support. Thanks!

Thank you so much for your help; I tried your suggestion and found that I had at least one corrupt file. After re-downloading those files and completing the mission, my game did not crash and I was able to progress. Once again, thanks for the help.

Same issue but later in the game

I am 60% in the game and I had a pretty similar issue. I decided to free last fortress which I did twice resulting each time in a freeze with sounds going on.
I thought this was an isolated bug so I tried to free an outpost instead but this time I had a crash no matter what a minute in the game. Out of dispair I fast traveled to a Y quest which I am now stuck in on reload. The second I backstab the first guard I have a freeze with sound going on. In other word, the game is totally broken.

Already contacted support with dxdiag but I am trying my luck here too. Issue with game cache is that I have a steam version. Steam checked game cache successfully already.

I don't know what to do.

So no reply here and no reply from support. Selling a game that can't be completed. Because why not ?

    # 1 Verify your game files

if you have the game thru steam run steam as an administrator

to verify your files if you bought the game thru Steam

go to your Steam games library

right click on far cry 4

    select properties

    select local files

select verify Integrity of game cache

it takes a few min to do but its faster the redownloading your entire game , if its only a few files that were corrupt or installed incorrectly .... this in many cases will fix your problems
If you have the U play only Version of the game you can also verify your game files with U play

if you have the game via u play only here are instructions how to verify your game files thru their client ( see the bottom of the page..and yes try running u play as an Administrator )

    # 2 reduce your in game settings settings you may be freezing from your GPU locking up from a driver crash or your Power supply cant supply enough power your GPU

if your running an Nvidia GPU try resetting the shadows setting as well as your Ambient occlusion as well as anti aliasing settings ..not all GPU's can handle this game with all setting on full

    # 3 memory issues often can cause lockups in games it could be a failing memory stick or incorrect memory timings if your overclocking .. reduce your overclock
get and run Prime 95 or memtest 86 and run it to check .. as yes i have seen that issue on my other games and systems with failing /incorrect memory timings with chips in the past

#4 heat monitor your systems temps ..vid cards do lock up if they get to hot ..same with CPU's they will throttle ..check your bios settings as well as driver settings

i have had zero crashes or lockups with Far Cry 4 and my system is quite old ..tho i do run a newer GPU
i did not install or use any geforce experience with my GTX960 when i installed my drivers (version 347.52)
i also made sure i used DDU before i installed my drivers

my system is WINDOWS 7 64 bit ultimate
    ASUS P5B bios version 1604 from 2007
    8 gig of Kingston DDR 2 -800 (matched set of 4 / 2 gig dimms 6-6-6- 18@ stock voltage )
Intel core 2 quad Q6600 @2.4ghz (i did not need to overclock to run FC4)
    Asus Strix GTX 960

(previous vid cards are an Asus R 9 270 X 2 gig card and a sapphire HD 7750 1 gig card ( tho with both of those i was stuck with mix of medium detail settings and custom settings )

    res 1920 X 1080
    vsync - on

    quality settings
motion blur off - not a fan of it ..
    Textures - Ultra
    Shadows - High
    Post FX -Ultra
    Geometry - Very High
    Vegetation- Ultra
    Environment - Ultra
    water - Ultra
    ambient occlusion setting is SSBC
    and using SMAA for Antialiasing

god rays - off- not a fan of how it looks
    fur - off
    trees relief -off

    in advanced settings
    triple buffer - off
    Vsync mode - normal

game looks fine to me and plays stutter free on my rig with zero crashes

oh and game as well as my OS (windows 7 64 bit) are on the same 500 gig WD black edition sata drive
