Recently installed Far Cry 4 on Steam. Windows 7 computer passes Hardware requirements (QUAD 4 cpu - Nvidia GeForce GTX 550 Card - 35 Gb free disk space 4 Gb ram - high -speed broadband and all the right supporting software). Pressed "play." White Uplay screen showed => "Uplay starting game" with “Synchronizing your save game with the cloud" lower down => Black screen with Far Cry 4 logo flashes briefly and returns to Uplay screen without loading the game. Please help, I’ve spent a week trying to get Far Cry 4 going. (ps: Far Cry 3 works beautifully on my system).
Just installed the game yesterday and getting the same results .
Running a i7 , Win7 ultimate , gtx780 , 32gigs , drivers etc all up to date , did a dxdiag = all good . Verified game files = good . Running Chrome browser .
Not sure if any of these are the problem : Evga Precision / Fraps installed but not running / Avast Pro / Malwarebytes Pro & Anti-Exploit . Turned these off individually (not all at once) and no effect , game still wont load .
Should note , ALL my other Ubi games run no problem (Farcry 3 , Splinter Cell Black List , etc) , , its only FarCry 4 that wont run or even start .
All my games are on a separate (3TB) drive , but as mentioned my other Ubi games all run fine on the same drive (including any and all games Steam / Origin , etc)
With that said , anyone have some suggestions for us both ....
Background Applications
You may also encounter problems due to applications running in the background on your computer system. When playing Ubisoft games, please be sure to close all running background applications before starting your game. You can find the steps for this listed below.
- Open your start menu and look for Run (Win XP), Start search (Win Vista), or Search programs and files (Win 7)
- Delete anything on the Open line that you'll find there, and type in the word MSCONFIG and press the Enter key to bring up the system configuration utility
- Look down the list of startup items (not the tab labeled Startup), and choose Selective Startup (if it is not already selected) (If you don't see this, make sure you've clicked on General, near the top of the window)
- Once you've chosen Selective Startup, uncheck 'Load Startup Items'
- Once you're done here, click Apply & OK, and let it reboot your computer
- Once restarted, make sure that any application that affects your local network is disabled
Try running the game again. If the game loads and seems to be working, the problem is most likely related to one or more programs you have scheduled to load with Windows. You can then revert the settings back the way they were, and in a trial and error fashion, disable some programs using the startup tab (in the msconfig utility) to try to find the culprit.
*Keep in mind that this is a temporary solution and any changes can be reverted by returning to the MSCONFIG utility and re-selecting 'Normal Startup"
applications that are known to cause problems on some configurations are
1 EVGA Precision
2 MSI AFTERBURNER
3 Rivatuner statistics server
4 some antivirus and or firewall programs
Avast should be fine as i run that but i have the free version so check the program settings in Avast pro as well as malwarebytes Pro as it may be blocking a port the game needs open to communicate with U Play
see this forum thread to fix issues with Afterburner / Rivatuner ..the same fix may be applicable for EVGA Precision by setting the game to low detection levels .. dunno as i have never used EVGA precision but i have seen others report problems with that software on some configurations
