Firstly, I'd like to start by stating that we value everyones opinions on what they've seen of the game so far. You are entitled to your opinion, just as everyone else is entitled to their own. We would however, like to remind you to please remain civil with others on the forum when sharing your thoughts. We understand that the Ghost Recon community is very passionate and that they want the best for the franchise.
With that in mind, we've not yet discussed camera modes which will be used in different portions of the game or anything related to the multiplayer portion of the game. Please rest assured however that once we've got more information on what will be used, we will share this with the community.
As for what you've said about Cortexian, I'd like to point out that he is one of the most passionate and helpful members of this community, as well as the help he provides across several Ubisoft games. He is not being paid for the services he's providing on the forums and is doing this because he wants to help this community. I would appreciate if you showed him the same level of respect you'd like to be shown yourself, as he, along with several members of the community, have helped out a massive amount.
Thanks.
I understand Defiled66's passion on Ghost Recon I aver been a GR fan since the original Xbox version (check my join date) There are two things that I think destroyed the fan base for the series. The first was the long delay between GRAW2 and FS It was like what 5 years? Over that time COD became the console shooter of choice mainly because they drop new games yearly. A lot of people migrated to the Battlefield series because it was more realistic than COD and didn't have the childish fanbase that COD has. Over that long delay people forgot about Ghost Recon, and when FS was released, hardcore fans were thinking WTF is this? Which brings me to point...Future Soldier was too future. So much so it was unrealistic and easy. The going trend in shooters is to go futuristic. Look at the last two COD's. I'm glad GRWL is going back to open world and not so "techie" for this series.
That being said we have only seen very little of this game. While it is a 3rd person / 1st person hybrid, you never know what game modes an camera angle will be present in the final build so everyone just relax! I didn't like GRAW when it was first released but it became my favorite game of the series so try not to bash the game based off a 5 min E3 reveal until you have had the game in you hands.
You do understand the original Ghost Recon was not a true FPS, it was camera reticule/target view only.Originally Posted by defiled669cfh Go to original post
Your passion for FPS I would guess matches my love for TPS.
Don't bash on TPS simply because you dont like it.
Also its been TPS since..2006 or so, if you didn't like it then..perhaps you should have stopped.
We all have our own opinions and views, I did get to play Wildlands and the direction they are going
is the correct one IMO.

Beeing a big fan of the first Ghost Recon, I miss his gameplay and mechanics but you have to understand that games evolve and the community too, I played the pre-alpha and I had that feeling of playing GR1 in some way, still we talked to the dev of bringing that feeling back to the game.
No one is forcing you to buy the game when it comes out but you'll miss a very good game cause that's what GRWL will be, I had my fun playing it and i'm sure i'm gonna spand some more time with the final version when it's out !!!
Now you have you're ideas, we don't dicuss that but as Jax told you, you have to respect the others members of the community cause you agreed the forums rules when you created your account to this forum !
Don't talk to Cortex like that again when he's done more for this community than you and he did it voluntary for us !!! So show some respect to the people of this forum, moderators and members !!!
I have to agree with Sanity. Wildlands was just shown at E3 last week, so it is still in it's development infancy. UbiSoft has plenty of time to design a good working Teamwork game and add Clan Support, to make the majority of GR's customers happy.... or mostly happy.Originally Posted by SanityAgathion Go to original post
As long as UbiSoft can learn from it's Rainbow6 Siege's current mistakes and direction, from the RB6 player revolt they have on their hands over on that other Ubi Fourm... there's hope that UbiSoft will see the light and get the Ghost Recon religion again.
Now for the 3rd person view... I pray it stays!!! I miss that old SOCOM style of game play!!!
As for the OP... you can see what the Common Core education system, is giving our youth in the schools today.![]()
Yeah I am pretty sure i played the first ghost recon that was released..TPS was first on Ghost recon 2(2004). I love TPS better and even though Summit Strike was my Favorite GR..i loved GRAW1 AND GRAW2 because it still had the same GR environment and tactics....now GRFS was horrible..i was GOW hopping through out the whole map. and the maps was not GR we all knew to love on multiplayer.
I appreciate your commitment to bring Ghost Recon back to its roots, but I think you need to take a look at the current picture when it comes to games. You can cite numbers of copies sold for old Ghost Recon games as much as you want, but if you look at the competition at the time it's obvious as to why people would rather pickup Ghost Recon than some of the other old titles. Ghost Recon was the pioneer and one of the most advanced and exciting games available at the time.Originally Posted by defiled669cfh Go to original post
In this day and age, competition is much more fierce. Battlefield and Call of Duty still have extremely large holds on the shooter players out there, and hardcore games like ArmA and Insurgency have extremely small followings in comparison. To me, Wildlands makes perfect sense from a game design perspective. It's not as hardcore as ArmA or some of the other military simulations which is a good thing for the mass population. I realize you may not agree, since you want Ghost Recon to go all the way back to its military simulation roots, but unfortunately that particular genre doesn't attract nearly as many players nowadays.
Ghost Recon Wildlands does a good job at bridging the gap between games like Call of Duty and Battlefield, and the hardcore games like ArmA and Insurgency.
Ubi_Jax has addressed your behavior already, so I'm not going to bother reiterating what was already said in that regard. I'm not paid by Ubisoft, I simply volunteer my time to try and make the forum community a welcoming and helpful environment. If you have issues with my behavior, you can contact me via private message and we can discuss it further.
We're on the same team here. We both want Ghost Recon Wildlands to be a fantastic game!
OT: What happened with Siege? You mean the absence ofsquad AI in single player? That's kind of awkward, or did I miss something else too?Originally Posted by RedKnight5 Go to original post
I think RedKnight is referring to the state of Siege in general... I've been rather unimpressed by that team to "come back to the Rainbow Six roots" like they promised a long time ago. The game isn't nearly hardcore/tactical enough yet IMO. And some of the mechanics they had during beta were absurd in a Rainbow game, like hit markers and regenerating health. They've removed those things now, but they still have a ways to go IMO.
That said, I'm going to playing the heck out of TERROHUNT with friends. That game mode is a fantastic cooperative experience.
