I've emailed the team to find out if I can answer this without breaking my NDA... I think I should be able to, but I'm not entirely sure. Stay tuned!

I honestly doubt they would drop NODs as an item for the series... therefore the post by Cortexian0 becomes more interesting.... as it hints at the possible equipment...
maybe the game will cater to geardos...

whats funny is that with the way the ghosts mix with the indigenous people suddenly the masks from future soldier become important part of the gear again.

NODs are a must have. Would make weapon mounted IR lasers meaningful.

Seriously, Night Vision and IR lasers are an important ingredient for any Spec Ops experience.

Just heard back from the devs, and I can confirm that night vision goggles exist in the game. We used them extensively during our play-session of the game. The world gets VERY DARK at night in certain areas without artificial lighting from light-posts/buildings/etc. Night vision is pretty much required to see where you're going during the dead of night.

I'm fairly sure that I was more stealthy at night than during the day while I played. It seemed like I could get closer to enemies without them noticing, etc. This could be wrong though, and/or just coincidence to do with other mechanics happening at the same time (ex: I may have been out of the AI line of sight as well as closer to them than during the day).

So there you go! Night vision confirmed!

In the trailer if you watch the offical one, you can see night vision mode being used on the drone, so that's a start at least Night Vision and target tagging, booyyyaaaaa.
    At the 4:27 mark.
