So, I decided to revive this thread for just a moment because, in looking up this video from the E3 stage demo to link on another thread, I decided to watch it again, and I was looking in in the background, and noticed that you can see the alleged viking's approach if you're really looking for him.
That could be another samurai... but is it? Let's look closer.
Inconclusive, you say? Well, let's allow him to advance.
Hmmmmm...
Is that a shield? Squint a bit. Maybe part of his armour? Perhaps a little too blurry to tell... But wait!
"What is happening here?" I hear you say to yourself.
Are the Legion's feet off the ground? Did he just lift his opponent off the ground, and carry them backward? Watch again, in this gfy HERE! How else do you explain such rapid movement off screen, and, more importantly, such rapid rearward movement on the part of the knight? It wasn't entirely the fault of the camera, and as far as we know, characters can't sprint backward. Could this be a shield-charge ability!?
"Was that it?" I can hear you cry. "Hogwash!" I can hear you dismiss. BUT WAIT!!!!!
Our little anomaly makes another appearance. This time nearer to distinguish some things
Are you still certain this is just another samurai? Doesn't that armour look a little bit strange? And what's that on his left arm?
Wait for it.........................

Oh... That's a shield. And a shield with a design on it, which bears at the very least a passing resemblance to a Triquetra, more culturally associated with European Pagans (more Celts, but regardless), than with Japan (a more customary Japanese three-armed shape would be a Tomoe).
A clearer picture can be made, prior to the first attack. As seen at the very beginning of this gfy HERE, you glimpse him (and his shield) briefly in between soldiers.
So; what are the implications of this? Was it just an Easter Egg the devs threw in? Is it confirmation there are mixed teams? Or........ Are the Warborn in league with the Chosen?

From the fact that there is a screenshot of a warborn on the site and they havent show more of them makes me think that they actually could show em off but chose not to.
And thats why im quite convinced that this totally is a sneaky apperance of the warborn or maybe im totally wrong and its just a different chosen class.
If it is actually a Warborn, then I think that's all it is as well. I think mixing the teams like this in the final game would be contrary to their apparent design philosophy, with you picking factions that suit your 'inner warrior' and all.Originally Posted by Havemercy87 Go to original post
'But why?' is the question, though. I don't even want gameplay, necessarily, just a new screenshot, some concept art, anything. I'd be satisfied with a two-second cameo in a trailer, like they recently did with the flail-and-shield knight.Originally Posted by premiumart Go to original post
Maybe we'll have to wait till the beta.... The anticipation is killing me, though.
Their site has info on a Viking Hero with the "classic Viking round shield" and a sword. I'm pretty sure that's a Viking. And I think it's an Easter Egg.
If they have the character ready, I guess we'll see him soon. Though I'm much more hungry for a dual wield or spear class, since we already saw a shield in the last trailer. If it is a gameplay footage with the UI, though, I'd be more curious about shileds.
Very good analysis yet again, Willow!
Agreed... looking at the premiere trailer again (for the billionth time...heheheh), it appears that the Vikings were the round-shields, whereas the knights used kite-shields.
That being said, I noticed that there is a spear fighting samurai at 0:53 (fighting a viking).
Old news - I know - but at least another weapon to ooh and ahhh over.
