So tired of posting problems with this game. Started playing Far Cry 4 again ( have not played since Ubisoft broke the game to sell Yeti DLC ) and can not progress any further due to constant random freezes that require a hard reset of my system. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the game and my graphics drivers are up to date. Can anyone help or is this mess of a game perminatley broken. Nothing but broken games from Ubisoft since Watchdogs then Unity and Far Cry 4.
Windows 8.1
intel i7 4930
Sabertooth X79 MB
32 GB RAM
980 ti sli
Can you please explain what is the SLI? My problems have just started a week or so when I get killed,I still hear the game but the screen is greyed out.Originally Posted by Patu Go to original post

I have 2.11 GIG left on my HD but I don't think that is the issue as I play other games without a problem. I have verified the game itself.
Windows 7 sp1 Geforce GTX 560,16 gig RAM.
how old is the power supply in your system ? you may need to change it .. your issue has nothing to do with SLI .. SLI is useing TWO video cards connected together with an Nvidia SLI bridge
also you may wish to upgrade your GtX 560 ..thats a pretty low end Graphics card to run FC 4 with as it has a low pixel and vertex shader count
and the reason i say check your power supply i had the game lock up on me a few months ago .. turned out my Power supply was failing .. so i replaced it with the spare i keep on hand
problem went away (i guess it was not feeding the vid card enough power anymore .. and yea PSU's do wear out over time (hence i keep a spare on hand all the time )
but i had an ASUS Strix GTX 960 installed then .. recently upgraded the GPU to a 6 gig Gigabyte GTX 1060 a few weeks ago and man the game runs waaayy better on a 1060 then it ever did on my GTX 960 2 gig card
but if your power supply is a few yrs old like your graphics card i already KNOW is .. yea get a new PSU
if you plan to keep using your GTX 560 try older drivers and ALWAYS use Display driver uninstaller in Windows safe mode (DDU )
and install your video drivers Clean and exit all backround applications before you load the game .. your issue may be a driver problem , i do recall Nvidia shadow play caused problems last yr on some cards if you installed GF exp with your drivers .. i never install that crap
a GTX 560 is quite an old card so it may be the card is failing too ..not sure but i don;t think Nvidia is gonna keep supporting those older Fermi chip cards much longer
an you can see here how much faster the newer GPU's are right on this hard ware specs page
http://pclinks.xtreemhost.com/video.htm
but if your power supply is as old as your GTX 560 (the GTX 560 came out in 2011 ) .. yea i'd replace that first to rule out a bad PSU
after about 5 or 6 yrs some do go flaky and can cause your games to lock up
Basically the whole rig is app 6 years old with a solid state mobo and a 3000 w psu.But there are no tell-tale signs of burnout from the psu.The video card is running Doom 4 smoothly at hight specs, not to mention all other hungry resource games.Thankyou for you're advice, and I'll look carefully into those suggestions.Originally Posted by WID992007 Go to original post![]()

one other thing of note is i never ever install geforce EXP with my drivers
OR Nvidia 3D vision .. as i do not own a Nvidia 3d set of glasses or a supported 3d monitior <-- you need that to use that feature

and PHYSX
one other question are you ;launching both Steam as well as uplay as Run AS ADMINISTRATOR ..i always do ... i set it up that way i know you said you had Win 8 but try running the game in a windows 7 compatibility mode
also disable backround applications as many can cause an issue
BACKROUND APPLICATIONS may also cause the game to not launch properly and you may need Exit out of them, or reconfigure them to work properly with Far Cry 4 known apps that can cause this are
A. EVGA PRECISION
B. MSI AFTERBURNER
C. Riva Tuner Statistics Server
D. DXtory
E. Motionin Joy
F. Anti Virus or Firewall software (AVG , Comodo, Bullguard etc.. <-- check settings)
G. MSI true Color
H. Evolve gameing client
I. AMD Raptr \ AMD Gaming Evolved
J. TeamViewer
K. Overwolf
L. Nvidia Geforce Experience Shadow Play as of Driver 361.75 in Jan 2016
M. Adguard
see this thred to possibly fix issues with afterburner causing black screen
http://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php...rcry-4-Crash!?
Please see this Page where it mentions Backround Applications and how you can try to see if one is possibly causing your issue with the game NOT starting or hanging
https://support.ubi.com/en-US/FAQ/9/...0000000eio0CAA
And if your running windows 10 make sure you launch both Steam and Uplay as Run As ADMINISTRATOR
this game was shipped well before windows 10 did ...and yes you may need to take that extra step to run the game
this games engine was created years before windows 10 shipped and that change may needed to allow the game to write any save files and or configuration files , windows 10 may handle file security \ permissions in a different way, then previous operating systems did.
if you have a problem... try this
right click on the games .exe file
select properties
select the compatability tab
check the box that says run as Administrator
set it to run in a windows 7 compatabilty mode
you can also run the windows 10 compatablilty trouble shooter from that same window
and the game ran fine(crash free ) even on my lenovo laptop with Windows 8.1 without me doing any thing , but that GPU sucks and only ran the game in mix of low to medium settings with an AMD A 10 CPU and dual AMD 8650 graphics
