Lets calm the Ui down a bit before release. I know Vandenbergh said he didn't want people frustrated by guessing the actions of the enemy, but that's exactly what you want in this kind of game.
Ive seen a few demos and already I can see the different stances a character can do. If I a person who has never played the game can see the stances a person who has played or is planning on playing the game for hours will not need them at all
Another thing is those giant shields that pop up telling you the status of your team when you reach 1000 points are way to big for what they are trying to show.
I agree on all these points. I also think that parts of the IU could serve to distract some players. I think what we all really need/want is just the ability to take away and/or reduce the parts we don't feel we need necessarily. Sliders for size and specific toggles for different parts of the IU as well as the indicators that pop up sometimes would be a great way to let the player control excess information and allow them to focus on the things they need to focus on. I think such changes can genuinely affect the performance of a player in a fight.Originally Posted by Purona Go to original post
Might be a good addition in terms of game modes, but I'd still sincerely hope they allow for UI customization in the other gametypes as well.Originally Posted by Sixty-nl Go to original post
After watching a Twitch interview where it was said that the AoW UI is currently persistent so that the player is reading their opponent more than reading the scream (explained better in the video) I think that if the UI is to be removed it should be in its own mode (Hardcore mode), maybe with other features too such as increased damage.

Thing about that is that if the game isn't incredibly popular having a hardcore mode could split the community in way that's detrimental to its sustainabilityOriginally Posted by Sixty-nl Go to original post
Thing about that is if the game is to easy the online community will die out fast since there will be nothing to learn or gainOriginally Posted by tom1172821 Go to original post
Take the top 20 most popular PC games at the moment. Every game has 2 things in common either the learning curve is deep and vast (Dota 2 Counter Strike League of legends) or the game has massive amount of content MMOs like World of War craft or FPS like battlefield and Call of Duty
Now For honor isnt as deep as Counter Strike nor is it as vast as League of legends. And an overbearing UI that makes it extremely easy to know what your opponent is doing will be the death of this game.
All im saying is they could probably ruin Chivalry and Mount and blades communities just by making the UI simpler and keeping the mechanics the same
Interesting response. I think this is probably the biggest question for the Beta.
So far, I think the best option would be to have the UI an optional thing in single player, and be turned off in multiplayer. I get why they want to keep it on right now, but I also think that, after training in SP and spending a dozen or so hours in the game, one will learn to play without the UI.
"Hardcore mode" sign me in, but...Originally Posted by Sixty-nl Go to original post
This is a serious concern. Even I would prefer a mod more hardcore, with one hit kills and no UI, I could settle for just a button on the menu to turn my UI off... plus immersion it's equal to plus fun!Originally Posted by Purona Go to original post
