they should at least think about 8 player co op. so we can break that down to 2 4 teams or 2 3 squards and the last two being a sniper team.
i know they dont listen to much but really think about this.
look at arma, project reality, and everything else. people play those games because of the team work needed for large groups.
I feel like the core game will be what we've seen, 4-player coop max. The premise of the game makes it sound like the situation in Bolivia calls for a small infiltration team, not a massive invasion. A single group of Ghosts dropped in is probably perfect for the story. 8 player coop might be neat though, but the AI would need to dynamically scale to increase the difficulty of the game.
Well... here's the thing.... Cortexian0, Jax and others are talking about a "Max" player count for Co-Op mode. But I've been posting about something completely different. And that's Full Online Multiplayer.Originally Posted by Cortexian0 Go to original post
Lots of talk about "co-op" game play has been discussed in the forums. But I don't see how "co-op", could be compared in any way, to a Full online "Multiplayer" game play mode. I believe... it's WAY to early in the Wildlands development stage... for UbiSoft and it's developers, to have any idea yet what Wildlands Full Multiplayer game play will consist of. 4 vs 4? 8 vs 8? 16 vs 16? Or more. Larger Online War Clans will be taking a critical eye... how Wildlands online Multiplayer will work. To small of a full multiplayer player count in game... Medium and Larger Clans won't buy this game... this means lost sales. That's the facts.
Cortexian0 mentioned recently... and I don't mean to put him on the spot... as I'm sure he doesn't have any more intel than we do... how full online multiplayer modes will work either.
Cortexian0... like myself are both gaming pilots... and large maps make us giddy. BF3 and BF4 have big maps, but it sounds like Wildlands will have even BIGGER maps! That's great! Now, as for the still "unknown" Full Online Multiplayer part of Wildlands... why would the game developers have online maps this huge... but only provide 4 vs 4 GR full multiplayer men on the ground, in the air or in any vehicle. So... 4 vs 4 players... must only refer to co-op games. In a Full Online Multiplayer game... you must have at least a good 8 vs 8 players. Better would be 12 vs 12. Best would be 24 vs 24. A Full Multiplayer room "A" side, would break down their (8,12,24) players into several elite squads and each squad would work tactically with their other squads... on a very BIG map. This way each squad would have a single objective to complete. Or 2 squads could work together to complete an objective. The Enemy "B" side would do the same.Originally Posted by Cortexian0 Go to original post
Since "Co-Op" and full online "Multiplayer" modes are completely separate in my view... we will not know the true full online multiplayer experience and direction the UbiSoft game developers will take GR Wildlands in, until a couple of months... or weeks before the game is released. So for this year... I'm not going to sweat about this multiplayer issue. Some of us Clan folks, must have larger amounts of players in a Full multiplayer game. It seems the majority here, want to keep the player count small. But that "small" co-op player count, may be getting confused with the Full online "Multiplayer" part of this game. I can understand a 4 vs 4 player Co-Op game. Although I won't be playing it. But as for the Full online "Multiplayer" part of this game... if Wildlands doesn't provide a healthy amount of players on BOTH sides... then larger organize groups and War Clans won't buy GR Wildlands. Myself and a few others here, are trying to get UbiSoft and some of you to understand this. Otherwise... we will wait and return to Battlefield 5 and HOPE, DICE provides a good working Clan Supported system for BF5 next year. I see BF5 and GR Wildlands, both being released around the holidays of 2016. So they will be fighting head to head for sales.
So... why have HUGE Wildlands maps for Full Multiplayer games... but not allow both sides to have enough players to make this game fun and interesting to play online? (Imagine if you will, ARMA3 and it's big maps... with a 5 vs 5 player game room). This is why I will ignore the "Co-Op" aspect of Wildlands... and wait for the real Full "Multiplayer" description of the game, as that is the only part of Wildlands, that will make or break this game for the War Clans. As in: "A small player room count in Full online Multiplayer mode = lower game sales". As apposed to "A LARGER player room count for Full online Multiplayer mode = Higher Sales for Wildlands". Take the low road as Rainbow6 Siege is doing = "it will be a small fish in a big pond. If GR Wildlands takes the Higher road for real Full Multiplayer game play = it will be a "BIG fish in a big pond". And better able to compete against EA/DICE and their Battlefield 5 and other big multiplayer games releasing next year. And don't think, GR Wildlands won't be compared against DICE's BF5 or the next COD game!
So, we've heard about some of the GR Wildlands 4 vs 4 player co-op game rooms so far. But no real facts about Wildlands Full online Multiplayer game rooms. I don't expect that information until late next year at best... knowing how UbiSoft PR works.
Yeah the map is absolutely massive. Battlefield 3/4 maps are small in comparison. The only game I've seen with maps that you can compare it to are ArmA. I don't have exact map size measurements, but Ubisoft is saying it's the largest map they have created for an action-adventure type game. I know the map is bigger than Stratis in ArmA 3, I'm not sure if it's bigger than Altis or not... I think it might be, but I didn't have time to fly around and determine that.
I can say this: Pick a spot in the distance, in any scene of the trailer that they released. I'm pretty sure you can go there.
And yeah, multiplayer is something we talked about at Paris. I have no information to share regarding it though. Like you said RedKnight5, it's probably to early in the games development for the developers to know for sure what kind of multiplayer they would like to implement. Lets try and keep the focus of our discussion on the open world and cooperative modes that we've seen shown. When Ubisoft has more to share about multiplayer I'm sure they will let us know!
It's not that they can't, it's that the game wasn't designed for it. Wildlands was designed from the group up as a 4 player drop-in cooperative experience. Changing your core design after working on it for three years isn't all that easy or, in some cases, even possible. For now, the team is focused on providing a fantastic open world 4-player cooperative experience.
Cheers,
But with all due respect... why design a Formula One race car (as in a VERY HUGE Map)... but you can only drive your Formula One race car in your driveway?... (like only 4 players on that very HUGE map). If that's the case... just design 8 or 10 smaller maps and do the fighting on those.Originally Posted by Cortexian0 Go to original post
If the core design of GR Wildlands, was made for such a small player foot print, on such a big map... and now the game can't be adjusted to allow for larger player rooms to hold larger competitions... on that very huge map... what a mistake that was! Don't give us a steak... when all we can do is lick it!!!
So 4 or 5 guys, gets lost in the woods... because they don't have more players in the forest to help them out.
UbiSoft is taking some major missteps with Rainbow6 Siege. I hope this won't be the same with GR Wildlands. But we have over a year to watch and see where UbiSoft goes with this. I "was" On Board with RB6 Siege until recently... so I have plenty of time to make a decision on GRWL vs Battlefield 5.
UbiSoft... be flexible. You'll have some major competition in the game market, when you release GR Wildlands next year!
