Agreed, but beyond that:
Spartans, Mongols, Incas, Myans, Indians, Persian and any of the other greats I may have missed.
I understand the game is early and they have to see if it sells first. I would definitely suggest to keep doing what they are doing now - focusing on balancing (no OP cultures). Add what they can "culture wise" without damaging that balance structure.
And when game sells, if sells good. Post support DLC with more balanced cultures.
I don't think you realize how much work has to be done to have THREE different factions, with their own playstyles, design, balance and so on. See multiplayer online games like Planetside, you'll realize than having more than three factions would be unbalanced and would lead to under-development of each faction, in order to keep within time and financial limits.
I'd rather prefer a quality set of three whole factions, rich in their differences and similarities, qualities and weaknesses, than having a melting pot of cultures with a dozen of factions, which would ruin the concept and balance of the game.
I agree completely. It is very easy to get carried away and wanting to see your own favourite warrior cultures represented, but one must not rush ahead blindfolded and think that it can all be done. This game has shown amazing potential for its release already, but it is important to note just how much work and effort has gone into detailing and fine-tuning the game and its mechanics to shape it into what we see now. I think this is also a big part of the current selection of warrior cultures; Eastern, Western and Northern. In many ways this is the best three-way split to cover the greatest variety of cultures and interests, in that the European-style Knights can effectively emulate a lot of combat forms that are found also in ancient Greece and Sparta given the right weaponry. The Vikings also exhibit traits of so-called Tribal warrior cultures around the world, being more focused on a basic and primal aggression rather than fine techinque and originating from cultures that are closer to nature than others. Now, Oriental warrior cultures also vary greatly from eachother, but in the whole and large I think it can be agreed that they share common foundations such as a focus on inner strength and spiritual philosophies.Originally Posted by KissingCarrion Go to original post
If they do decide to add a new culture, we should all wish for it to be after deep and thorough consideration of not only the PvP balance, but also cultural distinction and integrity. We all just want to see this gem of a game polished to its finest ^^
I think IF the game sells well there would be a expansion possibly in the future with THREE more fractions not five or six. Six fractions in a game is more than enough. Maybe if the community does have a hand in suggestions they can pick a bunch of maybe fractions and have a poll so that the community picks the three that get added.
But right now I don't think they have any plans on it being they just announced it a day or two ago.
I'm not a historian to teach but for who stranger to European History, Janissaries was Ottoman Empire's most powerful soldiers and they beated pope's crusaders, conquered countries and be feared long as centuries.
here is the wiki page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Janissaries
pls put them in your new awesome game ubisoft I love you guys!
Spartans are indeed very cool. What we noticed when we discussed these warriors, is that they didn't bring a very different fantasy from the Knights in terms of gameplay styles. Knights, Vikings and Samurais are very different and offer truly different fantasies. But yeah, really cool to see what you guys like in terms of warriors!

I don't think Spartans would be that interesting, personally. There are already two European factions, and the game clearly is focusing on a much latter period of time.
I would much rather have factions based on Middle Eastern/Arabic/west Asian cultures, such as the Ottomans or Mughals, and something based on Precolumbian cultures, like Aztecs or Mayans
I agree with everybody that it would be cool to see spartans and other factions, and how hard it is to bring just three so far. I hope In the future they bring a DLC Tribal Factions (Polynesian, Indians, Aztecs, African, and many more) I know I'm pushing it! I just love the look of this game.
