Love ranged combat! Other suggestions as well...

I have over 700 hours in Chivalry on PC. Would love to see throwing spears, axes, smoke bombs, fire pots, crossbows and traditional bows. Hot oil, trebuchets and ballistas are also very much welcome!

I really hope you concentrate on kb/mouse controls as well as the controllers. Game has a lot of potential. Also, duel mode, only human players, capture the flag, etc.. would be great as well. Keeping an eye on this!

Certainly not an archer/crossbowman class, since it's more melee focused. But a throwing axe on a viking class wouldn't be bad. Seeing as we can dodge things I don't see why not, but a ranged-focused class wouldn't really work I guess.

Also I bet there's going to be some sort of siege weapon, too.

I agree with the above poster. Something I'd really like to see is actually another faction which would be Pirates! I can foresee some great battles on ships against pirates.

No need for Ranged combat in this game, we already have tons of games that are centered around shooting.

This game is special because it is a melee focused multiplayer game. Keep the Range elements limited so the melee combat isn't unbalanced.

Why so against ranged classes? You can limit ranged classes in a game so its not just an archer fest. I think having a ranged class adds another exciting dynamic to the game.

It's clearly a melee focused game, the mechanics of blocking and striking according to stance is something unique that sets the game apart from everything else. Adding a dedicated ranged class detracts from that. And I think everyone knows what would happen if they added an archer class --- people would figure out their maximum range with a bow, stand at that distance and spam arrows, especially if they see a duel happening, or they'd camp capture points (I know there''s probably more modes, but lets go with what they've shown), and prevent anyone from reaching them.

They only way that something like an archer could possibly be balanced is if the arrows did a near ineffectual level of damage (say, you had to be hit by four or five) and/or limit their range to something unrealistic for a bow (the castle map they showed, for instance, looked small enough for a longbow to reach at least halfway across it, and people would eventually figure out the arch necessary to reach one corner from the other), making the choice a poor one, especially since their melee ability would also have to be limited to well below everyone else (little to no attack/defense, like, only allow them to block/melee with their bow, and/or having no armour), to prevent them from being an all-rounder that everyone would pick. And even if they limited them in any one of those ways, either you would have people complaining about snipers (which occurs in every other multiplayer games already), or you'd have people complaining about people picking archers because they couldn't (or wouldn't) help capture points.

As the others on the thread have said, I like a secondary ranged attack (throwing axe, shuriken, crossbow with a single bolt) to catch someone off-guard, but impossible to spam, and the arrow storm ability shown looked interesting, but a dedicated ranged class is unnecessary (or detrimental).
