No no no...it is not related to 1.2 but it has been there since 1.1

I add (space) -DEVMODE to my Far cry exe (quotes and everything) and it only opens up the Far Cry Folder when it is supposed to take me to the game. Now it had been working the first few weeks I had Far Cry but now is not.

anyone have any thoughts on this? thanks

Are you certain you have put this on your desktop shortcut? If you havent, put it on and then use the shortcut to start the game. Hope this helps.
Also, dont put 'devmode' on with caps lock on.

You probably deleted or backspaced by accident.

    "C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Crytek\Far Cry\Bin32\FarCry.exe" -devmode

That's what it should look like.

you need to add a file to your main FarCry directory ... get it Here

Simply place the extracted file into your Main farcry directory ... e.g

    C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Crytek\FarCry

then start up FarCry and it should work!

the commands for the cheats are as follows!

[F4] - Toggle No Clip Mode
[F2] - Move to Next Checkpoint
    [F9] - Save Current Position
    [F10] - Load Current Position
    [F11] - Toggle Extra Information
    [F1] - Toggles FirstPerson/ThirdPerson Camera Modes
    [F5] - Default Speed
    [=] - Increase speed
    [-] - Decrease speed
    [BackSpace] - Toggle GodMode
    o - Gives 999 ammo
    p - Gives all weapons

Hope this helps, works for me

DOH! thanks for the help guys...i forgot to edit my .lua file after I reinstalled the game so what good would -DEVMODE be without the edits?

thanks for the link: i also have that stored.

hopefully this cures it and i will let you know after work.

been busy with MP for the last week and a half.

the DEVMODE is still not working. i edited my file EXACTly and loaded the game EXACTLY as instructed.

yet everytime i enter "blah blah farcry.exe" -DEVMODE, it brings up the Far Cry folder and not the game.

    please help!

Are you sure you have edited your Farcry shortcut in the Farcry shortcut properties?

The shortcut is either on your desktop or get to via Start/Programs/Games/Ubisoft/Farcry/Play Farcry ...

Right click on the shortcut & select Properties.

Where it says 'Target' you need to add -DEVMODE to the existing command line ... I.e.

    "C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Crytek\Far Cry\Bin32\FarCry.exe" -DEVMODE

Note, there is a space after the close quotes & before -DEVMODE. It looks like this:

Then, when you insert your Farcry CD & the auto-splash box menu opens up .... QUIT out.

Launch the game from the shortcut ... the one you just edited!

Once in game all the devmode commands are activated ... some whilst playing & others by dropping down the console with the ` key (above Tab & below Esc)

thanks jvw, but i did all of that...

in my first post, i mentioned that DEVMODE worked very well for the first month i had the game (with 1.1) and then stopped working (while still 1.1). patch 1.2 didnt help either.

it is not too big a deal, as i am a far cry fan for the MP play but i would love to go back and explore some more with the cheats.

reminder to the readers, i am doing everything correctly but (space)-DEVMODE only opens up the far cry folder.

and when you just remove -DEVMODE its working again ?

sure a friend / virus ... did not replace your farcry.exe by a explorer.exe and just renamed it ?

did you ever try to reinstall ?

do you have a second shortcut (the one at the desktop and the one in the startmenu) - have you tried copiing it over the defect one and just adding the -devmode to the shortcut again ?

can you cut and paste the shortcuts destination line to the forum for further investigation and tests by other users ?
