Hello, all the game files are verified and the device manager reports that the Windows drivers for the wired 360 controller are the latest. When the controller is not plugged in, everything runs smoothly in FC4. When it is, I get black screens, missing interaction prompts, etc. The same controller works fine in other games.
Is there any workaround or am I stuck with mouse and keyboard (which I prefer when Ajay is on foot, but the controller is better for driving vehicles and such)?
go buy a real PC controller ?
have no such issue with a logitech game pad ..its made for PC not X box ..no drivers needed for win X 64
mine looks like the current f 310

While that's certainly a possibility (and I have an old Nostromo gamepad I could try out), it's rather silly that Ubisoft (10 patches in, mind) can't get their game to work with the controller that's become the de facto standard for PC gamepads in the last few years. Heck, FC3 worked just fine with the 360 wired controller.
I have heard/read somewhere that if you have other peripherals plugged in that are in any way beyond bog-standard ones (for instance, a mouse that has more than three buttons and a scroll wheel) that the game gets confused between that and the 360 gamepad. I have a Logitech MX 518 that they'll have to pry from my cold dead fingers, so maybe that's the cause.
Don't waste your money on a bunk Logitech controller.
According to Volfbane: Ubisoft Support Staff NCSA, " the wired controller Xbox 360 is the only officially supported controller to use. " *(Link to the thread below)

Well, it sure would be nice if they figured out how to make it work then. I mean, the game is great and I'm enjoying it, but having to drive vehicles using kb+m and thus digital steering is painful. Neither Far Cry 2 nor Far Cry 3 (I've played both on PC) had any problem at all with the 360 controller. FC2 didn't actually show the buttons and such in the interface so there was a bit of guesswork involved at first, but once you knew what was what it worked flawlessly.Originally Posted by NghtFox17 Go to original post

Seems to work for me.
I do have a GTX 970, but I don't see what that has to do with whether the 360 controller works with Far Cry 4. In fact the thread you linked to suggests no connection, so...?Originally Posted by mikared01 Go to original post
The latest WHQL GeForce drivers may well have an issue that causes the program to hang occasionally (I've experienced said hangs when playing but never when the 360 controller is plugged in, because the latter literally makes the game unplayable on my machine), but that doesn't mean the one thing has anything to do with the other.
Can i just ask if your all on windows 7 that's having problems? I bought the game Monday and downloaded it, went to play yesterday and have the previously mentioned problems with the xbox controller. Upon searching I found a forum and it was only windows 7 users it doesn't work with. People on windows 7 it didn't work with upgraded to windows 8 and it worked flawlessly. This isn't an option for me as I don't see why I should pay to update to windows 8 now when if I wait until July I can upgrade to windows 10 for free. Just thought I'd share my findings and see whether you were on windows 7 too. I wish there was a fix 😕
