Hello all,
I am currently having a problem with the use of the Wireless Xbox 360 controller utilizing the Microsoft wireless adapter, on Windows 7 64-Bit. When I try to play Far Cry 4 using the controller, the game boots fine, and allows me to navigate the menus ok. However a few reproducible errors keep reoccurring making the game unplayable.
1. If I try to run Far Cry 4 in Offline mode with the controller on, it will only attempt to connect online (and fail) even if selecting 'offline play'. This is the case with or without uplay in offline mode, or my internet being disconnected.
2. Once in the game, if utilizing the controller, the game will prevent progress as objectives and enemies etc will not load. The only two work-arounds I have found are alt-tab out of the game and back in, for the mission to continue, or turn off and on the controller. both result in times which enemies can come up on you an kill you easily.
The game runs fine via Keyboard/mouse. However having not used either in 10 years, it's uncomfortable to go back. And considering the game is advertised with controller support it is very frustrating. I am currently running all the updated patches for the controller/****le and Far Cry 4.
Is there a fix for this issue, or an upcoming patch?
I ask that you check for any available drivers for the device to see if this helps. You may also want to try a wired controller to see if the error continues. I would also suggest submitting your full dxdiag and msinfo to the tech team here: https://support.ubi.com. Please verify the game files before launching to see if any are missing or damaged.
Game files were verified (re-checked on 05-10-15) I had tried a Logitech F310 wired controller, This did not present issue 1) with Offline Mode. However it continued to present issue 2) Game becoming stuck until 'alt-tab' out and in.. The game also took much longer to load while using the wired controller. All other peripherals (except for keyboard/mouse and headset) were removed in order to troubleshoot the issue.Originally Posted by Volfbane Go to original post
THe MS-Contoller & /Wireless adapter are running the latest drivers. This was checked on 05-09-15.
Where are the dxdiag and msinfo files located within Far Cry 4 files?
complain all ya wanna its not a ubi issue its a microsoft issue
sorry man for full controller support you will need windows 10 and DX 12 or at least windows 8.1

bottom line if you need a controller to play a first person shooter ..buy it on X box ..or better yet PS 4
also i hope you are aware there are many millions of counterfeit X box 360 wireless controllers out in the market ..that were made in china ..umm yea those wont be supported
game worked fine with a real wired logitech Dual action game pad plugged in here ..they cost less then $20 us
1. - Using a XBOX 360 controller (which works fine on Win 7 64-Bit), NOT XBOX one. so the Win8-10/DX12 requirement isn't pertinent. (reference post 1)Originally Posted by WID992007 Go to original post
2. - Xbox 360 Wireless controllers work fine on every other game I've used it on, except FC4. if it were a hardware issue, the issue would be present in more software, not just one program.
3. - The controller works fine in-game, I can move, run, jump, shoot, enter/exit/drive vehicles etc, but the game will not load objectives, enemies, or other progress based items. Again showing an issue with software, not hardware. (reference post 1)
4. - I used the Logitech F310 controller (same one suggested in other posts), and the same game-breaking issue presented.(reference post 3) and I would rather re-learn Keyboard/Mouse, than be stuck with an uncomfortable controller.
5. - I own a current gen console, However I got copy of FC4 bundled with my Nvidia GeForce GTX 980. so buying a second copy of FC4 for my console would be redundant and wasteful.
6. - I don't 'need' a controller to play anything. I prefer to use one, because my PC isn't at a desk.
Also the problem with the game requiring the alt-tab to continue when using the controller, didn't start until the last update.
I experience the same problems.... This is the only game I have ever had problems, Far Cry 3 worked flalwlessly. This game would be wonderfull if it were not for this problem with a SUPPORTED CONTROLLER. I like probably everyone else with this problem have made sure my drivers are up to date, my Windows 7x64 is up to date, Far Cry 4 is up to date- and these problems persist. Ubisoft is ignoring this issue, so that says they are ignoring something they claim to support. I only hope that maybe it is a Windows + Far Cry 4 problem and Win 10 will fix it. . . I am not going to shell out the $ to buy Win 8.1 when Win 10 is comming free very soon. . . . However, I have fear this is not the problem- because if it were, then why do all of my other games, including Far Cry 3, work fine?Originally Posted by NghtFox17 Go to original post
WolfVane, are you still monitoring this problem? The above user, and myself, are all up to date on drivers.... that is not the problem. What do we do now? This controller is supposed to be supported, should need to remind .... This is very frustrating, please help us.
This is such a wonderful game, why put in so much effort into making such an amazing game, to then destroy all that effort for a significant population of players, by not supporting your supported controllers? That just doesnt make any sense to me. I really don't see why this should be such a big issue to fix- please at least tell us, if you do not have a solution, that you are working on it.... Again, this is a supported controller. I want some support. I want to be able to immerse myself in this fantastic game, and I just cannot do it the way it is....
Thanks-
Are you serious? So because XBOX 360 Controller doesnt work for one game, you recommend buying a whole new system just for one game? Are you rich or stupid or both? Far Cry 4 advertises 360 Controller support, if it didnt I would not have bought the game. They should live up to their advertised support. I have done all the checks on driver updates for Win 7x64, 360 Controller, and Motherboard for USB IO, all up to date... I have submitted a ticket through Ubisoft and done the checks they asked me to do, verified the things they asked me to do, and after doing that and replying to them that the problems persisted after verifying everything they asked me to do.... now my ticket is sitting there without replies. They are now ignoring me. They are ignoring this issue....Originally Posted by WID992007 Go to original post
did i say a new system? are you an idiot :>? no i said try a different controller ..
1. i used an old logitech game pad with no issues ..cost $16 at best .. tho i may have seen the same game pad for $12 on e bay
2. have you tried to contact ubisoft support by phone to resolve the issue with YOUR SYSTEM
contact numbers are easy to find .. call and ask em to help you work out YOUR problem .... on your system ..as i have read many post where other people said they had no issue .. not just on this forum but other forums ...
https://support.ubi.com/en-US/FAQ/60...0000000eiChCAI
also as to the controller support on steam it does not say full controller support..it ?? does say on the steam store anyway .. partial controller support if you care to look ...
http://store.steampowered.com/app/298110/
and others have found ways to fix the issue with their WIN 7 install and their registry errors as to the preferred or FIRST controller
and yet even more have no problems with a game pad with WIN 8.1 and updated DX files and drivers as well as REAL ... not counterfeit X box controllers
i am up to my 8th playthrough of this title with no game pad issues ...so i dunno what to tell you
i only pick up my game pad for a few of the wingsuit missions ..
the rest i play the game with just a logitech wireless KB and mouse
did you install any emulation software on your system before ? for your game pad .. again i dunno ?
it works fine here on a game pad i bought several yrs ago at a computer show for $16 ...
