    Pirates Themed Only Game Ideas

Hello to all, This is a game that is inevitable a UBISOFT to create it. If it is made right it will be total HIT. This is a dream come true if ubisoft realize this kind of game. Black Flag without Assassin's :-) It is like a destiny to them since most of the pirates of the Caribbean was French. I will post my ideas of this game and also will post a post of a guy from another website which was talking about the same subject and have very valid ideas on the subject:

Only pirates game remember Sid Mayer’s pirates game was amazing game for its time. The reason you should do this is that you already have known how on how to do it and the naval battles in Black Flag was outstanding! Most of the people did not care about main mission but just to get lost in the Caribbean and have fun. Imagine a game in such a beautiful tropical world going to the roots of the 1700 Era of the Caribbean Piracy that will be amazing game. I would like to suggest that the upgrade options in Black Flag on the ship was okay but you have to go even deeper as making access to the whole ship, make a captains room where the character can do something upgrade it, go to other parts of the ship have a mini games on it. Make an option to recruit a crew where you have to choose from different people like doctor, carpenter, a cook and all that stuff that will do the game more immersive. Please do not recycle the game mechanics from Far Cry where you have to search for chests and masks, since this is getting bored at some point, make it more intelligent for anything that you have to do on the map put the character a mini game which occurs in different gameplay every time.

One very important aspect of the game should be focused on romancing, be open minded give the people to be able to romance different girls which they like, which will give them some possession depending on the which girl this is. For example if you marry the daughter of some Governor you will get this and this privileges and etc. Some of the main aspects of the game should be: Land warfare, Ship capture and prizes, Trade and economy, Sailing, Romancing, Capturing cities. When you capture an enemy ship let’s there be option to go in the captains room and find interesting prizes there which will be of use in the game.

The economic part of the game should be put also for example if you bring more raw materials that are needed in Providence island this will make the island progress and you possession there also. You can buy those materials from other cities or rob them from other ships in the sea. This way with the time passes you will be able to see the city of Nassau growing visually. Which in time will give the opportunity to go and do political diplomacy which will be changing the whole Caribbean world. Be smart incorporate fun game mechanics which will be different than only Run and Fighting. Take example of GTA, if you play gta game it have so many fin side activities. The most important idea of the game is that everything you do will have some consequences on the game and on the game directly. One game is getting bored when it gets repetitive and there is nothing new to explore and do in the word…

Here comes the opinion of the other guy:

Take the time, 2-3 or even more years to build a new IP from the ground up, AAA style, the way a company like Ubisoft with it's money and earnings could do. and build on those pirate/ship elements and make a new IP, purely pirates-themed.

But you make it CUSTOM to that concept. You take the framework of the cinematic style of combat from Assassin's Creed and you modify it (or even build that up from the ground as well) sword dueling, pistol/muskets with their own mechanics, etc. Take the open world/seas from Black Flag and make it even bigger (but not too big, looking at you Just Cause 2), and add in factions/countries for you to trade, make alliances with or just go to war with.

Add even more depth to the ship-to-ship combat, maybe try to find a way to have your entire fleet in your control instead of just one ship all the time (maybe for specific story/side quest conflicts maybe?), more depth to the ship customization, the crew, just all of that.

Add more depth to the trading and economy systems. Dynamic elements of trade goods and their worth at places, changing trends in what is desired where and for how much, etc.

Make it a new IP, maybe just pirates from the real world, but the more 'celebrated' version like we usually see in movies and on TV, not the bleak, depressing thing that it like REALLY was in real life for the most part.

Take away the assassin stuff (you could still have an assassination or two in the story, MAYBE, but make sure that it makes sense for the story/setting for this IP.

Picture it, you start off a nobody (like in Sid Meier's game) and work your way up to working on a ship, and in time, becoming your own captain. Then what kind of captain do you want to be? Nicer and friendlier, making alliances and the like? Or ruthless and taking whatever you want from whoever you can? Or something in the middle.

And make whatever story there is the BACKSEAT to the setting, the mechanics and the pirating/ship sailing and economy elements. Any story/character stuff MUST work towards those things being the most important things.

They took the ship/pirate stuff out of Unity. I HOPE something like this is why. Only time will tell.

But any big fans of Black Flag, can any of you tell me that if THIS game I'm talking about was made, and it looked good and solid and all of that, is there any of us that wouldn't grab it up immediately?

NOTE. this post was posted in Rainbow Six forum by mistake.

And of course let's not forget how important is the good environmental design, the sunsets the sunrises, wind, rain night, starts, ambient sound especially in the Caribbean paradise. If Ubisoft decided to do it,I prefer to be more like AC Black Flag than like Watch Dogs.

    Another Opinion

Here is another opinion from the last hour from another guy:

I think a game exclusively focused on pirating and sailing the world would be a fantastic idea and even keeping a combat engine similar to Assassin's Creed would be appropriate (though I admittedly would like to see a little more involvement in the combat like the 2007 Prince of Persia game had.) I would love to see fluctuating economies between ports with in-depth trading, plundering, hijacking of ships for your fleet or to strip down or sell. I would love more in-depth customization for the ship, including the hiring of specific crewmates with varying talents, altering the shape, size, and color of the ship or even being able to use different ships throughout the game. My biggest hope would be for more involvement in the ship-to-ship combat. I want to see enemies boarding my ship and vice-versa, I want sword fights among the sails and swinging swiftly from platform to platform while gunning down enemies and the likes. ACIV already had a feel that tried to replicate the type of stunts we witnessed in movies like Pirates of the Caribbean. I just want to see that taken to the next level.

Some other thoughts on the subject how I see it. You have to start from the ground zero in the game nobody with nothing, on a small island making some different missions to get some money to be able to mount on a merchant ship which will transport you to a bigger city. Which ship might be attacked on the way by pirates might not be. Once you get to the bigger city for example Santo Domingo, you have to start making some small jobs and being able to buy a boat, that go fishing , meeting different persons in the city getting bigger until you have the chance to buy a better boat with which you will be able to visit the nearest islands. And Step by step becoming the greatest pirate. The Diving mechanics in the Black Flag was okay, but I found them to be a little bit difficult and boring once you start dying every time you try. Same is with the buying buildings in your own island. It is cool to have your own operation headquarter but here what have to be done is something like minecraft. Find a way that you can actually build this place and position those buildings on different places, seeing them getting build not immediately in time once you or other ships bring the materials than they can get be built completely. If you can upgrade and make this place every time different this is a guarantee that the people will play the game more than once.
It should have more diversity not just a tavern and 2-3 more buildings which you actually never getting to visit. This option of the game is coming more than just run and jump and fight.

The life on the pirate ship should be represented better like that you might have different options and stuff to do on the ship and have many customizations so this way you might make a different ship each time you play the game. Have musicians on the ship, have reserve of food and water if you went short you have to go ashore to find provisions. Basically the ship should be your sea house. The better you customize it the better sea life you will get.

The life on the islands should have variety too. In most assassins creed games the city feels limited that you can’t do anything almost inside it apart of the icons on the map. Have more interior more interaction with the NPC’s , have accidental meetings with mercenaries, drunks and other guys which want to kiil you. Have accidental meetings with girls ;-) The idea should be a playground where you are free to do whatever you wish.

If The Graphic of the caribean can be close this this cinematics will be amazing:

The one good feature that had AC in black flag was when you climb over some tower, and when synchronize is clicked you can see the whole island and your ship. That feature was annoying on most of the AC games but in black flag with this stunning nature was pretty good.

Also the NPC;s should do something except just walking and you should have better interaction with them, Be able to do different approaches with them.

Some more thoughts on the subject is that the game should have more nations than only the Spanish and English. The Portuguese the french and the Holland are a good examples that can be added, and each of them to talk on their language.

I was looking the presentation video of AC Syndicate and with the same passion the guy which was talking about the Industrial Era should be incorporated in this game but of course about the Colonization of America and the Pirates era. Be concentrate on the Looting merchant ships process also since the pirates was taking even a whole day to search the ships and see what treasures they can find in them.

Other important aspect might be the recruiting of the crew. What can be done is to be able o operate s certain type of ship you have to have certain amount of crew members as well specific type of persons which you operate the ship. Recruiting might be done in taverns, attacking other ships, also when you enter in a battle you might loose a crew members, or those members will be left with a arm cut or cut leg which will make them less productive. There should be a special recruiting of special characters for which will give you benefits of the crew, of course to get to those characters you have to accomplish certain missions or accommodate certain amount of gold to be able convince them to get on your side. Depending on the choice you make in the game you might lost or obtain a special character. With other words let's not be a static dialog only, give the player a choices to the conversations, by choosing what to answer . This needs to be a brand new game more intelligent than the jump and running only AC franchise.

Right now in Black flag the major need for money is the upgrade of the ship, which might change as adding some additional features like necessary operational needs of the ship, like water, food, wood, etc. which you will be bale to buy , steal, or get in the islands. Of course this should not be made something that you will have critical need from and that it will be costume fast so the only thing in the game which you will have to do is to search for those provisions. The things should be made in a moderate way. Prepare the full ship with provision should last you for 2-3 hours game-play for example.

When you enter a bay of some island you enter in the harbor and depends on the harbor size and type you might sell and buy everything or not only certain things, this is important why if you complete the missions of developing some city like providing materials and money for the city development the city will grown and will provide you with certain options like advanced harbor, advanced ship repair. own a plantation, better and bigger brothel, even become a boss of the brothel if you kill the old one and this will give you certain monthly amount of money if you manage it good if not will be taking money from your budget, and you have to make corrections. Also as a boss of this institution will give you free services.

AC3 was interesting feature introducing some basic economy features but this was not enough, if you will make a good trade economy in the game it must be made right, not scratch only the surface. Take one extra year and make the game right not just recycling game mechanics from the previous games. Basically on your choices in the game this should impact the whole game world, you go to some Spanish gold port and rob all the gold from the and you invest it Santo Domingo for example, once you get back to this city after a few months you will see a completely different city. Or making this and this choice will get you certain character on your crew, this type of different development in the game will make the players to replay the game more than once.

Some thoughts of the trading mechanics on the game is that you should be able to buy and sell goods in different ports in different prices. Buy or rob some products and then sell them on the ports which have markets. While you are cursing the oceans with a ship or convoy full of merchandise rare events should occur, like pirate attack, some key member of the crew dies, the ship got damaged, or get into hurricane and all of those events will make your journey harder and necessary to take decision to continue or to get a stop on some island and resolve the problem.

If you are doing a successful trips and generating profit for the crew members everything will be okay if not there should be a crew meter, in case if you are not a good Capitan a riot on the ship might occur or some of the pirates will challenge your captaincy on a free fight.

The merchant missions might be also to transporting some important people on your ship and depending on if you deliver them or not to change the game world and your game.
