Well I found an effective work around for the moment .... I use the Gain Override. After playing around with various settings I ended up around 3.1, this is with the rear humbucker of a 2014 US Strat HSS. So far this has cured all my ills. The second half of the Calibration will run .. but it skips the first half due to the Gain Override.

To be honest, the guitar has never sounded so good, and note registration is noticeably better ( say if I normally drop 10 notes in a song, it's now five). So I suspect maybe the cable has been weak for a while now? Gain would be handled in the cable pre-amp and A/D converter I assume?

I think my lost/corrupted profile was due to the numerous power outages we had during the ice storm last week while I was playing RS. Luckily I had a secondary profile with all the same favorites etc etc.

Gain over ride was pretty simple to use .... turn it up till the guitar sounds good, but not so high that crackles start, or it cuts out (around 6.0 it just totally drops).

So I'm good to go and will compare how things work when the new cable gets here .... thanks for listening

Well ...if anyone has similar symptoms ... the new cable cured everything. Game plays like new again. The cable must have been getting progressively worse over the last few months. Now things are nice a quiet, no noise, no static. Original cable lasted about 4 years I guess ... probably had many thousands of hours of power up time on it.

    Hi Dataway,

The problem here relates specifically to the PS4 version of the game, not a PC issue. We've been asking for a fix for months, many of us are experiencing the same issue. People with older cables such as myself, to brand new players. it's not a cable issue.

I noticed if I unplugged from the PS4 it would work correctly for me.

What I found very strange is that the cable worked fine in third party stuff like Amplitube etc. so I could have sworn it was a software issue. But it wasn't, it was a tired cable ... keep in mind the cable contains a pre-amp and D/A converter in that box on the cable .... electronics fail sometimes. Not saying its the problem with consoles ... but I learned, just because the cable works in other applications doesn't mean it still work right in RS ... don't ask me why, I have no answers.

Hi I'm not sure if your problem is the same as many of the people in my Rocksmith community on ps4 but this something you can try to get rid of or at least minimize the snap crackle pop issue. This works for some of us but not others. I have never had this issue on anything but ps4. (i have on xbox 360 and pc too).

Try this and let me know if it helps.

Step One with rocksmith running hit your ps button on ps4 controller to bring up home screen.
Step two: Goto Settings and hit x button
Step three: Go down to "Sound and Screen" and click x button
Step Four:Go down to "Audio Output Settings" and click x button
Step 5: Go to "Primary Output Port"Click X button. The recommended option is Digital Out (Optical). but what you do here is set it to HDMI Out, and click x button on controller, then click Primary Output Port again with x button on controller and select Digital Out (Optical) dont click on the option just goto the OK button(Linear PCM 44.1kHz and Linear PCm 48 kHz should be greyed out and checked)HIt the x button when you are on the OK button. and your screen should show Primary Output Port as Digital Out (Optical) go back in and do this 3 or 4 times changing back and forth from optical to HDMI and just make sure when you are done you are set to Digital Out (Optical) as your choice when done toggling.
Step 6: Hit o button to back out of menus and go back to rocksmith and hit the x button. This has helped a lot of people temporarily get rid of the snap crackle pop ps4 for me it does not totally go away but it makes it so much less. You may have to do this each time you play rocksmith and while you are playing if the noise becomes annoying again just repeat this process.
Hope this helps and if others try this method and it helps you please comment so they can look into this issue and maybe find out what is going on. I know the Dev team has a lot of work and do a great job at looking for problems hope this helps. I have the ps4 download but I also had this issue on the disk copy for ps4. I had thought it was the cord but have two and both did it on all guitars and basses but they dont do this on the xbox 360 or pc.

:^/ RockSmith will not work with other cables than its own because it looks for proprietary, copyrighted data in the cable's firmware. Other manufacturers aren't allowed to use it, and if it isn't there, RockSmith refuses to use the cable. This practice eliminates troubles caused by using unknown cables. It could also explain how a RealTone cable that works perfectly with other applications could be rejected by RockSmith; the copyrighted data may have become corrupted.

Just decided to have a quick lunch break go on RS2014, my first go in a good few weeks. Unfortunately it was ruined by the classic snap, crackle n' pop issues.

This thread seems to have gone very quiet, I presume Ubisoft is still sticking their heads in the sand and pretending this isn't a real issue?

Something needs to be done. It's deflating trying to play, with notes being missed because the random clicks start happening (not to mention how awful it sounds). This issue isn't on the other platforms, so I don't understand why it can't be fixed here.

Just checking back myself. I was playing tonight and it became incredibly frustrating to hear that popping sound, especially on the clean tones (Radiohead).

It seems to do with processing. The popping and clicking are much worse when I start up the game and my list of songs is enumerating. Once that is over, there is much less clicking but still there. Some days are worse than others and I cannot pinpoint why.

Please try and fix this, I really don't want to go back to my PS3 for one game.

    Are you kidding? Fix it?
They already have your money and have demonstrated that they're willing to lie and say they've never seen it happen.

How long's it been since Dan provided an update or even a response?

    Don't hold your breath.
