    Scratching and audio drop out

I'm having a problem.. I get a sound like scratching noise and sound cuts in and out. It feels like it has something to do with the jack on the guitar or the cable. Either way.. I don't like the options. It's not the speakers as Audio played otherwise doesn't have this sound associated. Running by optical digital cable (toslink) through a yamaha surround receiver on direct with audio at suggested set up. (Linear PCM) My speakers are 2 Cambridge audio flat wall speakers and a subwoofer.

So this suddenly started happening on my sons guitar on the PS3. One day it just started making these bad noises. I swapped cables and it was the same.

Try this because it fixed the issues for me.

Go into tuning > Calibrate the guitar.
    > When it says mute the string, don't. Just let them gently hum.
    > Strum and make noise when asked.
    > when prompted to mute, cover the strings for an instant and remove your hand straight away, let the string hum a little (not completely mute)

Guitar should now no longer make the buzzing / scratching sound.

    Hope this helps.

Negatory. This is where a video of the problem would be nice.

It started happening on my PS4 recently (I think after I installed the import pack).

Only solution is to reboot the game when it's happening... then it stops. But I get it 1 out of 2 time I run the game... Annoying!

I am having this same issue. Recently got a PS4 was working perfectly for the first week. Then suddenly, the sound began 'crackling' or popping. in the tuner, when you hit a note as it sustains it keeps popping sharp over and over and wont stay smooth.

After reading, this is more common on the PC, and there are detailed instructions on how to fix it, but they all have to do with editing the rocksmith .ini file. On the PS4, obviously we cant, or dont know how to do that.

Apparantly what causes it as someone mentioned is during the calibration, something happens that throws off the process and the notes all start 'crackling' different methods on how to use the calibrator not as suggested to 'trick' rocksmith into correcting the popping and back to normal have been suggested, but I too have tried re-calibrating way too many times now.

What further makes me believe it is the calibration process that causes the problem is like I said I recently upgraded to PS4 and was going through all the features and arcade games as a refresher and this all happened when rocksmith recommends had me playing 'gone wailing' a lot. that game makes you calibrate before you play, and the recalibration after going in and out of gone wailing over the first week is related to triggering this issue.

-I can make a video if it helps...

It likely would.. so the tech team gets an idea of what we are dealing with.

I sent a message. I've had more success with help on the forums though frankly.

Like I said this problem seemed to be somewhat common on the PC.

There s an entire thread Ubisoft put up to reduce latency and correct crackling on the PC version here: .https://support.ubi.com/en-US/FAQ/9/4285/sound-problems-with-rocksmith-2014/kA030000000ebmJCAQ

There are numerous tweaks and fixes for settings in the ini files and game settings, in which ubisoft specifically mentions crackling and what values to tweak.

It is not my guitar. It is not my realtone cable. both work on old PS3, and on the PC. I tested them. On my PS4 which is what I play on, this problem will not go away. I was playing ninja slide last night and the dude was hopping all over due to the crackling sharp.

I tried all the suggestions trying to get rid of the problem in the calibration. Ive swapped USB ports. This is a setting that gets thrown off in the software, and on the PS4 we dont have access to tweak values to fix it like the PC version.

So, how do PS4 users fix the crackling problem that many PC players experienced and fixed as mentioned in the thread above.
