Well, following what feels like the longest on journeys, the mission is complete..... So I suppose I should complete it's poetic journey too. I have added some minor mods to bring it to present tense, but it is now complete. As an additional challenge to all you poets out there, how about you add your own story of great frontier achievements below.... I think frontier is worth being shown some love......
Thanks to all those who helped it the final stage of the journey.... getting locked behind the yeti fur hunt at the end was one of the more frustrating moments of my gaming life.....
But anyway..... here it is the final poetic effort....
The Search for the Machine
"The cubes, the cubes"I heard them call,
From the stacks down to The Lift,
And search away I did with haste,
For those shining light blue gifts,
But though I searched both long and hard,
For mysteries of the past,
Wherever I looked, I could not find,
The cube they called the last.
The last for me, but not for you,
For I couldn't find a track,
Although I searched both near and far,
Through plateau that have cracked,
The Sunshine District hid from me,
My loot wheel was a miser,
Although I raced and raced along,
Twas never in my visor.
So all my friends lent me their thoughts,
On where to find this place,
Not forever lost to roam,
And never see its face,
For all the cubes belonged to me,
cept for this lonely one,
From cliffs to lairs to reservoirs,
I'd sought and I had won.
But the district hid the dark machine,
I longed to faceplant there,
For SynDi's story holds me near,
And cubes make me aware,
Of the story that is held in Trials,
Of a future looking bleak,
But saved through the world of the Frontier,
I longed to take a peek
The search continued far and wide,
Through Graveyards, Mills and Lakes,
And all the while the district hid,
A thirst I'd failed to slake,
So driven by the search I toiled,
A drifter on the quest,
Knowing my time would come indeed,
Only then would I find rest......
A call across the valley echoes,
"The District has been found!"
The loot wheel's treasure has been unveiled,
"The cube must be around!"
So off we rushed to Sunshine's spring,
And launched off to the blue,
And spotted the log beneath the ramp,
And it was then I knew,
The cube I searched for long was mine,
My search at last was done,
So off we raced onto the end,
To see the prize we'd won.
But alas, twas in our haste,
To celebrate our find,
We had forgot the hardest cube,
Still had us in a bind,
For in the old refinery,
A test too great still lies,
So off! To search for gold and gems,
To seek out those supplies,
That will send my bike up walls straight up,
To the place I cannot best,
For then the cubes will be all mine,
And the machine will show its test.....
The gold it flows like water,
Around the great frontier,
So when your short on finances,
There's nothing great to fear,
My bezerker shone with bright new parts,
the prizes from my quest,
So back to the refinery I ran,
And grabbed that cube with zest,
And lo and behold the prospector's there
He has a tale to share,
Of where to find that Dark machine,
But he warns to take great care,
For the machine it takes no prisoners,
No checkpoints will it give,
All the way onto the end,
Or friend you shall not live,
So into the machine I went,
And smashed my face into the blade,
Again and again and again,
Until my hopes of victory fade,
But just when all appeared,
To be too hard for me,
I bounce through the darkened cavern,
On onto Victory!
So people out in the frontier,
This is the tale of my quest,
If you too want the dark machine,
You will have to try your best,
But know it is achievable,
Though you will struggle long,
But the legends of the frontier will help,
So keep your spirit strong.
For the frontier is ours to brave,
Seasons ours to explore,
And your journey is just one more piece,
Of this Frontier's growing lore.
Thanks people (I promise no more poems for a while..... )
thats very good poem old chap,
and your story mirrors mine,
though the place that had me pulling at my hair,
was a rooftop of a building soley designed
to strip a man of his paycheck, whilst
whilst supping on cheap wine.
it turns out in my haste
to spin the wheel of great loot,
that i'd missed a single location,
and being 10 levels ahead it seems
made the RNG very angry
but once I had that place,
and dropped down onto that final cube
the portly white haired fellow
gave me access to the machine.
and thus our stories now overlap
so it seems folly to write more prose
enjoy your spoils my fine old friend
and ride whatever trials make you merry.
Why isn't there a like button in this forum??
Off to collect some more magnifying glasses..... All whilst looking suave in my arctic jacket and eggman hat.....![]()
This is amazing! I've forwarded it to our whole team here at Redlynx, I'm certain everyone will appreciate it.![]()
poem is cool, Kudos.
OT: No, this is more then amazing, right there and FYI since you are a DEV: http://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php...ox-not-workingOriginally Posted by ooswannyoo Go to original post

Edit: Fevves beat me to it
Thanks Swanny - If my dodgy poetry skills can bring some happiness to the team then my work here is done.....
To the others who want to harass devs on my poetic back, do you think they don't know? Really? My gift box works - most peoples work - but they will get there to fixing yours. My cornelius pants were not registering gifts for a while, but it works now, so just relax a little. We really don't need general grumpiness polluting the forums AKA Fusion style..... make your point, bump that point once a week maybe, but try and leave other more positive places in the way you found them.........
And iviark - I was trying to like the guy below my initial entry..... liking my own thread might be seen as a tad egotistical
BTW, I would have accepted a grumpy gift box post if it had been in prosaic form...
ie: The trials confront me once again,
My gifts they can't get through,
Please tell me god's of the frontier
What are you going to do?
See, is that so hard![]()
We know the gift box is not working,
And we thought we could fix it by twerking,
But it's not booty poppin'
It's friends list size choppin',
That will get this cool feature reworking.
although poetic form is 3.5 out of 5, I am happy to accept the gist of the message. can we treat this as official?Originally Posted by ooswannyoo Go to original post
Officially we are still investigating, it is not easy to reproduce. Our best guess at the moment is that it has to do with having a very large amount of friends.
...and only a 3.5??
