Hello,
I'm not sure if this has already been asked before, but I've always been wondering what's the factor that determines how many chips a Player will start a Showdown with. I've been lucky enough to start one with about 150 (which seemed pretty good), but most of the time is about 50 Chips. So, today, Arttuunkari got an initial Chip count of 400! That seems quite a lot, considering that there are plenty of times that you might not even reach that amount if there are a lot of back and forth owning tracks.
Is this pure luck or what's the trick?

Your opponent has probably had a lot of chips in his last game and still lost the race probably just before the end. If this is the case, then you may half your chips into the next race take. No tricks, read a little after losing a race helps.![]()
I personally have started matches with 1400 chips at start... I think I might have even hit 1800 before (but it was pretty special circumstances, and I don't recall the exact amount)...
400 is pretty easy to do.
Basically, there are two ways to reach a high initial chip count that I know of:
1) You ping-pong to a high chip count (let's say 2000... Easily reachable in pong) and you lose. When losing you get half your chip count at showdown end, and the other half can be sent to the next showdown. In the case I just gave, you would start your next showdown with 1000. So as you can see. 400 is fairly easy to do if any ping-pong was involved. If you have MULTIPLE pongs in a row you can make that even higher... Ex. First pong to 2k... 1k went to next showdown.... Add another 2k to reach 3k..... So when losing 1500 moves over. This number gets hard to maintain... But I've done it (that why I know I have done 1400)
2) I have seen the showdown system merge chips across showdowns before. I am not entirely sure how, but I think it goes like this..... Let's say you had 2 showdowns in a row you lose on, and you are trying to carry over 250 from each to the next showdown.... But.... The start of your first new showdown is delayed for some reason so both of the showdowns you lost in end BEFORE the 1st new showdown starts. When that happens I have seen those 2 new showdowns that should have been 250 and 250..... Instead become 500 and 0.
So theoretically you could get either of those things happen (or both) and get really high chip counts.
From the message at the end, I understood that when losing you only receive half your chips, but had no idea what so ever that the remaining half goes towards your next showdown. Thanks for the clarification.Originally Posted by maikkruppatz Go to original post
Thanks for this, it's of great help. The majority of the people I play against don't seem to ping-pong.Originally Posted by xitooner Go to original post
It does when you start your new showdown from within the losing screen of the current showdown. If you read what it says it explains that fairly clearly. But just starting a new showdown from the main menu will always start with 0 chips.Originally Posted by Juantastik Go to original post
This... is why I dont really mind losing; do it right and you never lose any chips.I am way more interested in getting chips than some season ranking that goes away after a week or two never to be recorded anywhere.

Also if you win, and start new showdown from the victory window, you carry over 10% of the chips youve won into the next showdown.
