Like so many others I too suffer from the black screen on launch, characters not appearing, cut sequences not playing automatically, etc when I have an Xbox 360 wireless controller connected to my PC.
The last update Uplay offered me took the game to v1.9.0 and the issues mentioned above still happen unfortunately.
I checked the live update page and the last reported patch from Ubisoft was v1.4.0?? Reading the comments below the v1.4.0 release notes indicate this fix was definitely not successful.

Has anyone had any success with v1.10.0?
Hi There,
I'm sorry you are still experiencing this issue.
The fix was in the patch you mentioned - however if that is still not stopping the issue - there are some steps that support can suggest.
Please contact our support team, who will be able to advise you of these - please do also send your DXdiag and MSinfo - since these can help find the root issue.

I'd be more than happy to send you additional information. I cannot wait for this issue to be resolved so I can start to play the game I purchased last year!
Why don't you just unplug that controller before starting?Originally Posted by spcross1 Go to original post
I have already tried that. Doesn't work. The minute I plug my Xbox 360 wireless controller in, the game screws up whether beforehand or in-game. When I disconnect the controller, the game plays just fine.Originally Posted by Patu Go to original post
With the controller connected, I see slow loading (which never completes unless I disconnect the controller or Alt+Tab), cut sequences failing to start, enemies failing to appear or if they are visible they don't do anything. Disconnecting my controller forces the game to wake up. It's very strange and wish they would fix this issue.
I dont play with a xbox controller but my friend got me one (cause he does) and we plugged it in and played o.k. with it after adjusting settings. Its a usb plug in and its an aftermarket $20 steel series that my buddy complains the sensitivity is bad on for aiming (I actually aimed for him with the mouse while he was doing sniping shots and the game allowed both mouse and keyboard and Xbox controller to function at the same time.Originally Posted by spcross1 Go to original post
I am using version 1.6 and havent' upgraded so I dont know. One thing I found interesting was for the first time since playing the game (after 6 months now?) suddenly I couldn't climb the grapple.
I read up on it and followed the advice to remove the gamerprofile folder. Like magic the game started a new gamerprofile file and the grapple climb controls worked properly again. Of course I had to go in and change the settings to get less stutter as it was quite noticeable after it went back to default. You may find deleting the gamerprofile file and letting the game make a new one fixes your glitch, if not its not much time to reajust it if you have changed it.
I've tried all sorts of things but I get the same old problem. I suspect it's affecting Windows 7 users and those who say it works fine are running Windows 8. Just a guess!Originally Posted by AndyJackson2012 Go to original post
Well after contacting Ubisoft support and logging a bug report, providing them with my DiaxDiag, guess what their response was. Yep. Sorry wireless controllers are not supported!! What a load of rubbish.

Good Afternoon,
Thank you for contacting Ubisoft Customer Support.
My name is Steven and I will be assisting you with your query.
I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues with your wireless controller.
Unfortunately wireless controllers are not supported with this game and we would advise for you to use a wired controller instead.
If you continue to experience issues with a wired controller please advise and we will investigate this further.
Kind Regards,
Steven
