I know there is some discussion in the other thread about this topic, but I think it warrants its own thread.
For those that watched the stream know that it wasn't of the best quality. But instead of focusing what was bad, let's use this thread to focus on how we can make it better.
1) Sound quality and volume: Try and check it in advance. Momi was okay regarding volume, but the other guy (what was his name?) was both too loud and too quiet. What I mean by that: You could hear his breathing and when Momi said something in his direction we could hear Momi twice. But when he was talking I couldn't understand a word. I'm guessing that it's probably his mike was set up too sensitive. It took every sound it could hear, including breathing and background noises. But because he thought he was too loud he wasn't talking loud enough. So try the volume settings out in advance and check the sensitivity-setting.
2) The point of the stream. It's an honest question, really. When starting the stream, what were you trying to bring to your players? We've all seen the cards. We've all read about the cards. We've all theorized about the cards. But what we haven't done is played with the cards. So what a community probably wants to see from you is twofold:
a) Seeing decks featuring some of the new cards
b) Theorizing about the new cards.
Regarding a: It would have been nice to see some showmatches at a decent level between decks based on the new cards. Make sure you practiced with the decks a bit in advance so you don't need to read your cards on stream and know how to react to a certain situation.
Regarding b: What we heard now is: "This card is definitely one of my favorite new cards."
What we wanted to hear: "This card is definitely one of my favorite new cards, because of reason x and y. And did you think of the (non-obvious) interaction with card z? I think this card will see play in decks like A and B because of these reasons." See the difference?
3) Peter. Actually, I liked Peter. He was honest. Answered difficult questions. He had the most clear voice of all three and actually would like to see him stream again. But, why wasn't he shown when talking? We never saw who he was. It's what makes the difference between a podcast and a stream. Anyway, I'd like to see more of Peter.
4) Giveaways; Well, you did it at the end, but global codes are way more friendly to your players watching than just giving away random codes that one guy can get. Raffling is also a lot more fun and gives everyone even odds of winning a code. It also takes up way more time and activates your chat, which is great to keep people engaged. Now I'm not saying that you should raffle all stream long, but I think they're a better way of giving away codes.
I do would like to note that mobile watchers are left in the cold. I was watching on my iPad and am completely left out of any giveaway. I know it's hard to please everyone, but you might want to take that into account since I didn't even get the global code even though I watched the stream.
5) Don't pay too much attention to the negativity of the chat. Don't get me wrong, answering questions from chat is great. I love it. However, don't let all the trolls on there get you down. Honestly, it's a bad culture of streaming, so try not to look to deeply into it. But keep an eye on it so you know instantly when something is wrong, because chat will tell you.
Some other thoughts and comments:
- Watch other people stream and see how they do it. Also, there is a big difference between a revealing stream, a tournament and just a player playing. Make sure to study the right type of stream. Here's a link of a very recent release stream done by Blizzard. And although it wasn't perfect in all aspects, it's still a great stream that did almost all the things mentioned above correctly:
http://www.twitch.tv/playhearthstone/c/6438751
- Know your cards and know what you talk about. Try either to play a lot with the new cards in advance, or try to get an expert player on the stream who has played already with the cards (VIP testing group?)
- A lot of the things mentioned on the stream by Peter were nice to know, like why there isn't draft. But why couldn't we hear this a lot earlier? It's one day before release and we hear about it now, but I think it could have been mentioned at least a few weeks ago. A sincere post like: "Players, we're sorry to tell that draft will not be in the next patch because of reason X and Y. However we'll do our utmost best to bring you the best quality as soon as we can." Something like that but a bit more nuanced. Silence isn't well appreciated by the players. And especially not a big reveal of the expansion wgere players have to find out themselves that there isn't draft in it although everyone was expecting it.
Anything else? Additional constructive feedback is much appreciated, but keep it civil people.

I couldn't watch from work, and I don't see that they have put up the stream as a video yet, so what was the reason for no draft?
Otherwise I'm inclined to agree... give them a break (on the stream if nothing else). It's not an easy thing to do, and if you have no experience doing it, it will take some time to develop a good rapport with your viewers.
Sadly though the angry noisy people are the ones who draw the most attention, and even when they have a reasonable reason to be angry, it's still very distracting and not very helpful.
I'd like to add 2 points:
- Announcement time.
1 day is enough for Facebook and prolly too generous for twitter, but too short for a forums, especially international ones like this one. You'd probably get more viewers if you'd announce a few days or even a week before.
Like you guys don't work on weekends, not everyone of your players has time to visit gaming-forums on a working day...
- Twitch makes making VoD's really easy, you could add a link to the opening post of the thread that announced the stream. Kinda for the players that missed it, so they won't feel left out/feel like they missed something.
Well,I was watching the stream for a quite while in the beggining but from what I could see they rarelly read the chat and answered questions.
I was trying to point out in a polite way that the guy on the right is either too quiet or something is wrong with his microphone.
I seen many people asking if they will be able to ask questions after then finish showing cards, but sadly they didnt answer that.
The only answers that I heard were that they are going to release tomorrow.(so today)
Instead of just ignoring people they could have said: "Look quys we are going to show the new cards a bit,say couple of words about them and then we will do X(whatever comes next)".
So people can at least know what to expect.
Also, would like to point out that they both seemed like they dont know enough of the game, especially the guy on the right.
Damn, can someone tell me what is his nick or name so that I dont have to call him the guy on right -__-
I was watching the stream for 10-20 minutes so this is my opinion on those 20 mins![]()
They actually did a Q&A at the end in which they answered most questions. Like why there is no draft and so. I'll leave it in the middle if it was a satisfying answer, but they answered it nonetheless. Can't remember all the questions, but at least 5 questions were answered by invisible PeterOriginally Posted by blackdragonstor Go to original post![]()
I was full of hope (still have some) and therefore very emotional, but i decided to sleep a night before i provide my input/feedback to the stream
I am sure BB working hard on the game and maybe they foccusing more on the game development/ software / art-work side what is fine for me
But a stream like yesterday unfortunately shows us the opposite - no preperation, no concept - how should ppl believe in the development than ?
The BB members are there for a good reason, i am sure, and most of them are professional on their job, but they really need to present the game in a professional/proper way also! Otherwise they ruin their own hard work, because they do good things but present it in a "bad" way, so people dont believe or even do not understand
From my point of view, you really have to think about responsibilities in your company for marketing/publicity work - announcement of the stream on day of stream about 12.00 (no info on twitter and facebook, steam or the doc launcher ?!? comon) is not helping you - u should use this event (new expension) as a chance to present your game, hard work and development to attract new players and get attention in ccg game scene
you really need to use your platforms
it was their first stream and they will improve so no need to punish them!
use the community, co-operation with vip-players and streamers to support you - make deals with them, you have to do not everything on your own because i suppose your man-power is limited of course ...
there are many options and professional players out there, they could and want to help, but you need to get in touch with them
atm it seems so you "only" working on the game but no-one really focus on the marketing and publicity
the game is great in termns of mechanics, complexity - of course you could improve always things and finetuning is also needed, but if no-one will notice ?!?!?
I am sure your plan is not only to bring a new expension on the marked to push sales !!!
I am a big fan of this game and it hurt my heart to be that clear, but i also hope it helps a bit maybe... !??
I wish you good luck, success and keep on running!
Sincerey yours,

My points still remain heheOriginally Posted by mriClipse Go to original post
I want them to improve their streaming skills.
They probably thought if they said there was no draft they would have to face the rage of 200 people that were in chat :P
