So, there's been a lot of speculation about where Far Cry 5 will be set in, and even though I just played Far Cry 4, I have taken some interest in the series. Here is one of my idea.
1. Somewhere in the Middle East: The main character is a disgraced terrorist caught spying for the US. Since he was a high ranking officer in the terrorist organisation, he was going to be executed, but he escapes and went into hiding. When the US invades the country, the terrorist organisation tries to recruit him back, as they had lost too many men. But the US wants him too, as he has the information about the organisation the US wanted. So he has to make a choice: return to his brothers and seek forgiveness, or abandon them and go to the US.
This country will be full of Middle Eastern features, like camels, which you can ride, like the elephant in FC4. There will also be beautiful locations like ancient Roman or Persian ruins. The beautiful buildings of Yemen. Mosques will also be included, adding more beauty to the desert. Oil rigs, rebel outposts and military camps will be included as well. Maybe the abandoned minarets of mosques will serve as the radio towers of that country, spreading propaganda. There will also be oases in the desert, and a river like the Nile may provide vegetation to the otherwise barren desert. I'm also thinking of a Grand Canyon like location in the country somewhere, where maybe the statues of Buddha from Afghanistan will be carved there. There will also be cities inside the cliffs like the city of Petra in Jordan. So the setting will be a mixture of Syria, Yemen, Afghanistan and Jordan.
Vehicles like ATVs and off-road vehicles will, of course, be present. The Buzzer, wingsuits and gliders from FC4 must make a return. Grappling hooks will be useful in the canyon. Cars will also be featured in more developed areas like the banks of the river, where boats will be used. Animals like crocodiles, snakes, desert foxes will also be available for the player to hunt and craft things.
Anyway, that's just one of my ideas and there's many more where that came from. Some of these are based on others' ideas and I made a few adjustments. Some are created by myself, and some are a mixture of both. This is a mixture and I hope you guys liked it, I do not expect Ubi to see this, I just did this for fun. (Who on Earth will say that writing this much is fun?)
I welcome constructive criticism and any hate comments will be ignored. You may also submit your own ideas in this thread, extra points goes to creative ones. And yes, I am aware of the poll Ubi sent out a few months ago, and I heard the Jurassic Park suggestion is very well received, but this thread is for places that exists now or a mixture of places that exist now, in the real world. More ideas from me will be coming out in a short while, if I have some free time, which I probably wouldn't, but don't worry.
Comments?
This idea is based on the "cocaine smuggling jungles of Peru" in the poll Ubi sent out. This also a mixture of ideas, but the majority is my own.
Setting: A mix of Central and South America. The player will be a female DEA agent sent to the country to combat cocaine smuggling. Her brother, also a DEA agent will be sent along with her. In the middle of the mission, she is captured by the drug lord, also ruler of the country. They were both tortured and her brother is killed. She then escapes and was rescued by the locals, who were bullied by the drug cartels. After recovering, she leads the locals in a guerrilla warfare against the cartel. Near the end of the game, she discovers she is pregnant, caused by the drug lord when he raped her. She then has a choice, to kill the baby, as its father is a horrible man and she doesn't want anything to do with that wretch of a man, or raise him as her own, as the baby is hers.
There will be various ruins from the Incas, Mayans and Aztecs in the country. It is also situated in a volcanic region, where volcanoes, hot springs and lakes are common. Spanish colonial architecture will also be present, with bell towers in churches serving as the radio stations. Outposts, drug dens and drug fields will be included as well, along with a presidential palace for the drug lord mentioned earlier. Swamps and jungles will be the main setting for the game, with many unique flora and fauna, like jaguars, toucans, alligators and many more.
Cars will be common and hovercrafts will be useful in the swamp. Boats will be used a lot in the game to navigate the rivers of the jungles. Buzzers and gliders will be useful as well. All in all, South/Central America will provide many opportunities for a Far Cry game. I chose a female protagonist because if there are no female protagonists in a series for too long, people might start to complain, so I think this setting is suitable for it, you may change it if you want.
(Longinus said he was going to South America in FC4, so that might be a hint.)

Hello there, community manager! Glad you noticed my ideas, there will be more in the future.Originally Posted by Ubi-MoshiMoshi Go to original post

Ok, you've waited for too long. This is my third idea. Hope you like it.
Setting: Somewhere in Eastern Europe, maybe Ukraine. The protagonist will be an American going to the place for a tour of an abandoned city (Pripyat), deserted after a nuclear reactor meltdown (Chernobyl). On the way, him, his tour guide and fellow tourists were captured by security guards of the place, as taking tours are illegal. The guards will then proceed to deport the tourists back to their respective countries when the protagonist escapes. Why? Because he is a war correspondent tasked with revealing the dangers of radiation, the corrupt guards of the area and why the country's army is all over the place. As he attempts to unravel the mystery, he gets the attention of the army and they will attempt to hunt him down.
This idea will feature an abandoned city, making the game more urban where the grappling hooks will come in handy to scale derelict apartments from the days of the Soviet Union. The ruins of a nuclear reactor will provide players an interesting place to explore, as there will still be radiation left. Thus a new gadget will come in handy: a Geiger Counter! It will warn players of places where radiation is high. There will also be abandoned factories, gypsy camps, small villages and farmlands. Cold War era bunkers, missile silos and radar stations will be available for the players to explore. Bunkers will provide crucial information about the country and its history whereas radar stations will act as the new radio stations, mapping out the area. There will also be a mini game where you attempt to power the radar, instead of climbing, providing a welcome change. There will, of course, be a wooded region surrounding the country, with animals like the brown bear and deer, which you can hunt. Animals in the region will be larger or perhaps stranger as they are exposed to radiation, causing deformities. Maybe the protagonist will encounter some animals with strange deformities and will take pictures of them, which he will then send to a magazine in the states to publish the picture, making a fun side mission. (He is a reporter after all.)
Vehicles will not be too different as there are no special terrains in the area. Maybe a tank, a BMP, or any military vehicles from the Cold War era for that matter. The NPCs will be speaking Russian, or Ukrainian. Urban combat will play a big part as the map has some urban elements to it and will require close range weapons as you clear room from room in a apartment. Traps will be set by enemies throughout the map, like booby-trapped doors, mines and C4.
So yeah, that's about it. If you have any comments or things that you want to improve, please reply. Constructive criticism will be highly appreciated.
Zzzzzz. I guess there aren't many countries in the world to choose a nationality from eh? I've nothing against Americans, but in almost every FPS? Zzzzz....Originally Posted by ptjz2014 Go to original post
I know right. I just wrote American without giving it a second thought, like they are the natural choice for an FPS. I can change it if that's OK with you, make him British or a person from another English speaking country. I kind of like the idea of an Australian though, they didn't appear a lot in gaming. Except for Buck in FC3, that's the only Australian I can think of in the world of gaming, but that's just my opinion.Originally Posted by wassupwiyou Go to original post
Thanks for the comment anyway.
Again, if you have anything to improve on my ideas, feel free to comment.
