I woke up this morning losing 3 tracks in a showdown and went to fix that. On Smuggler Tunnel I beat the ghost and set a new personal best, winner splash screen popped, wheel was spun. Oddly once the wheel went away I was down .316 seconds.

So ok, the other guy just played as well, that can happen.

I try again and I'm racing my ghost according to the costume and bike skin, and I proceed to set another personal best, beating that ghost by .329 seconds. This time instead of winner it says tie, the track goes grey, and has no time status at all.

I raced it again and there is no ghost, no marked time to beat, nothing. Finishing it gives my time but no -x seconds status all. I've only seen a tie once before but that gave me a number I had to beat.

Usually a track goes gray when 2 players set exactly the same time. Then it's hard to tell what was the time and how well you need to run to beat it.

I've had a similliar thing at Troll Lair once before. I tied with my opponent, but the thing is, I knew how to beat him: I had to set either a platinum time, or a time that is very close to platinum. Of course, it's not always that easy, but it's a good reference point.
