    Annoyances

    Hi there,

I'd like to preface what I'm about to say with the statement: if this game were not enjoyable I wouldn't bother complaining about it. Second I'd like to say that in the grand scheme of things what I'm annoyed are very small things. Unfortunately, like many small things, they can be enough to ruin your day. Sand in uncomfortable places, for instance. Papercuts. Getting poked in the head by a family member who won't stop. That sort of thing.

So, to the matter at hand. On screen prompts, eagles, karma events.... and that god-awful "beep beep" whenever my loot bag or other container is "almost full". Like I said, these are, in the grand scheme of things, very small annoyances, but they are rendering the game unplayable for me.

I don't know who decided that the player needed constant reminders on how to get out of a vehicle or put away an arrow but if you could please give him a Gibbs-smack for me I'd really appreciate it. Seriously, I don't know what that guy was thinking. You're 200 feet off the ground and the game is telling you to "PRESS E TO EXIT VEHICLE" or you're flying through the night under a hang glider and there is an pulsing, animated 3d representation of the shift key telling you to use the wingsuit. It's like having the worst, most ******ed back seat driver in history. And dear God almighty, why on earth did someone thing I needed an on screen tutorial every time I scope in on someone with a sniping rifle?

And karma events, why are they there every single last time I enter an area? Can't you ever complete them? Do I have to listen to gunfire all the time? In FC3 I snuck through the forest, picked fights, there was a few minutes of gunfire and screaming, then it was quiet again. The chaos and hell of combat was brief and contrasted nicely with the silence. In FC4 it's all the bloody time!

Eagles... really? Once in a while, near their eyries, when they feel threatened... yeah, that makes sense. But... really?

But the worst, most annoying, god awful irritation in the game has got to be, hands down, no holds barred, that bloody noise I hear every single time any of my bags are over 2/3rds or 3/4s or w/e full. That one noise is enough to make me want to kill someone. After ten minutes of playing this game, hearing that same stupid, carnival game noise I'm ready to demand my money back. I mean did someone set out to come up with the most effective way to annoy the player ever?! Why?!! For the love of all that is good and holy, why?!! Why at all? Let alone when my bags are "almost" full? Seriously?! Give me the option to turn that off! I beg you!

    Okay, I'm done.

Well there is the Mute button on your keyboard?
I am using it sometimes especially when doing some of the sadistic races which keep you in the "hamster wheel"

Yeah, it's kind of sadistic to make players go through the intro screens, cut scenes and be stuck with constant reminders all through play. Most games now must be for ages 6-10.

No mute button on my keyboard, not that it would make a difference. You hear that noise if you walk past a grenade/arrow/ammunition/med kit when you are already full. You hear it every time you loot something and are more than some arbitrary amount full. It's just aggravating. Honestly the last two FarCry games have had a lot of these cartoon noises that make no sense. But I think I was able to mod a lot of them away with 3. It'd be nice to just turn them off.

But I've been able to deal with that to some extent with big loot bags. It's been the karma events that have been getting on my nerves today. I just cleared one south of the very first outpost you take. I ran back over to the outpost, unloaded my bags (to avoid the god awful poke-me-in-the-head noise) and before I left the safehouse that exact same karma event was back. I just don't understand why the developers thought we wanted to hear the sound of AK fire all the time. It would also be nice to actually feel like we were accomplishing something.

BTW, Wassupwiyou, I love your avatar.

It's the Himalayan Vulture and it feeds exclusively on carrion - dead stuff - and is subservient to wolves, Snow Leopards and the Cinereous Vulture at carcasses.

I am generally OK with the Karma Events especially in the very early part of the game where they are a way to earn much needed cash, plus they add to the image of a war torn country. The only KE I don't like are ones where people are attacked by animals - I often end up getting penalised for accidentally shooting somebody who would be dead anyway.
As for the eagles it would be nice if there was a system whereby once you had shot say 30 eagles they would get the message and stop attacking you.
Agree on the stupid prompts to do things I have done a thousand times before !
