So - How Do Console Gamers Feel About Far Cry 4?

I realised while playing that this is the first Far Cry game on consoles that isn't a huge difference from the PC version. Far Cry 4 on PS4 is absolutely gorgeous. Rock solid frame rate, no jaggies and crisp, clean 1080p clarity. All the other FC games however have been quite different from their PC counterparts - though thankfully less so with each release. The original Far Cry on PC was, for it's time, amazing graphically and the world I think was quite large and open ended. Not open world by any means but you had enough freedom that you could approach things the way you see fit. Far Cry Instincts on the other hand was a more linear experience. Far Cry 2 while it featured the same world as the PC version was quite unimpressive in terms of its visuals at least according to a Eurogamer article I read recently. Far Cry 3 was very much the same as 2 - same world but limited technically. The Xbox 360 and PS3 struggled with constantly dipping frame rates and an abundance of screen tearing as well as pared back graphics. Far Cry 4 though is the first time console gamers have been able to experience a Far Cry game at it's best. So what do you guys think about it?

Ok... i have not played a modern game on a pc for a looooonnnnngggg time. However, to answer this best i can, i have played far cry 2 and 3 on the ps3, and (not having a comparison) thought they were both fine graphically compared to other games of similar release dates. Fc2 became a bit boring after a while, but i played it when it was already v old, and other open world games (AC games in particular) had moved into overdrive with their variety. Fc3 was simply a magnificent game all round imo. I started fc 4 on the ps3, but have now re started on ps4. The game play is identical, but graphically it is in a different league. Its just as fantastic as fc3, but bigger. It is an excellent game imo.

Agreed 100% on that last part It's understandable that you wouldn't notice much difference seeing as you weren't able to compare - never really thought about that actually. Glad to hear you enjoy the series. There isn't really anything like Far Cry on the market at the moment. I'm going to be playing through the original Far Cry as well as 2 to see what I've missed out on. Looking forward to it

I have played ALL the Farcry games and enjoyed them all. I played FC1 on PC when it 1st came out..became one of my faves....lotsa awesome mods for it kept me playing for months. FC2 I played on Xbox360....a bit repetitive but still fun...FC3 played on PC...enjoyed it much....but not perfect. I have FC4 for my PS4 and I LOVE IT!...the best in the series so far. Graphics are amazing and the gameplay is so improved from FC3....they fixed all the things I didn't care for. I have been playing it almost everyday since I got it...and it never gets boring or repetitive....so much variety in the gameplay.

Another thing about fc4.... they seem to have decided that most of the stuff in fc3 worked well, and therefore tried not change it too much. They then seem tl have added in all the bits of fc2 that didnt become boring. By that i mean the way you chose sides, and it slightly alters the way the game pans out. They expand on it too by giving you choices on how you deal with a main target. The main collectable/currency from fc2 has been turned into a selection of side missions in the Longinus quests. This has served to create some kind of huge far cry hybrid monster of a game. I doubt i will ever tire of playing it tbh!

Yes, Far Cry 2, 3 and 4 are all set in the same universe. Far Cry 1 is set in the Crysis universe though I'd say.

Farcry4 is my first game on console (xbox360) Im a lover of open world games so im just loving hell out of this game lol. I really love the simplicity of it the easy to use skill tree and inventory. Compare it to Skyrims hectic overload inventory <_<

I used to have over 10 PS4 games. I sold all of the crappy ones because I felt like "well they are crap and I'm seriously not spending any time on Far Cry 4". Now I'm down to 5 games and I'm giving Far Cry 4 the time and love it needs. I luv it.

I agree. Far Cry 2 was and is still very impressive on a technical level. The way the foliage bends, the way fire spreads, actual destructible light sources; all of these cool features were cut in Far Cry 3. You could even shoot individual plants and bushes off trees.
But the gameplay was horrible no matter how anybody is trying to justify it. I finished the campaign thrice or even more, the story is amazing especially how it draws heavily from Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness. And the fact that

    SPOILER

every major character dies at the end.

But the gameplay just doesn't hold up. I'm sorry Ubisoft. Stealth is broken, enemies detect you miles away, respawning enemies etc etc.
